'It's very unfortunate that the story has gotten out. I'd like to sincerely apologize to both Stevie and Lindsey that something from such a long time ago is now a public knowledge. Everyone involved has certainly moved on. They have a family, they've been married for years. I am a husband and a father as well. Even if I hadn't been with my wife back then, I'm sure, this is still unpleasant to her.'
Stevie scrolled down to read the next paragraph.
'It's sad, you know, that someone, whoever leaked this information, did this for a check, without having even considered the consequences. I know that Lindsey has not yet spoken out about this, but I understand why. He and Stevie are expecting a baby and they don't want to deal with it. They shouldn't. This has definitely made people talk and some of the things I've read, they're not very nice. Everyone needs to understand that whatever that happened between me and Stevie, it happened ages ago, when times were quite different. She doesn't deserve to have her name dragged through the mud. I wouldn't want this to have any effect on Stevie, physically or emotionally. This doesn't concern the whole world, it concerns me, Lindsey and Stevie. Once again, I'd like to note that our relationship ended decades ago. We haven't even really been in contact during the last ten or so years and-'
Stevie wasn't finished reading, but Lindsey decided she'd gone through enough and closed the laptop.
"I wasn't done with it yet." She complained, but Lindsey's hand prevented her from opening her laptop back up again.
"There's nothing else you need to see." Lindsey replied, moving to sit down next to her on the couch. "I asked him to apologize and this is what comes out."
"Well..." Stevie shrugged, putting the laptop away. "He did, I guess. Although, the pregnancy was supposed to remain a secret. At least, he confirmed that nothing's been going on between him and I for years."
"I'm sure, he didn't mean a word he said." Lindsey shook his head, pursing his lips.
"I didn't believe he was going to do it at all." She admitted, moving to snuggle up against him. "I wonder, what made him do it, though."
"I guess, it's because I told him about the baby." Lindsey swallowed uneasily, shifting in his position slightly. "I uh- I kind of told Don that if anything happened to you or to our child because of this, I'd hold him accountable." He raised his hand and continued. "And before you say anything-"
"I agree." Stevie interrupted, looking up at him. "It would be his fault. I'd been doing really well until that article came out."
Lindsey wrapped his arm around her and pressed a kiss to her hair. "What's done is done. Don made that half-assed apology if you can call it that. I don't want to think about it anymore, I don't want you to think about it anymore. I don't want us to be afraid of what might happen next. I want to put this behind us." Lindsey gently grasped her chin, then brushed the pad of his thumb along her bottom lip. "We've still got several months to go before the littlest Buckingham comes into this world." He smiled. "From now on, we don't talk about anything besides the nursery and baby names, got it?"
Stevie laughed lightly, nodding her head. "Gladly."
