Carlos reached the end of the street when a bright, blinding light appeared. THIS HAD TO BE THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME FOR THE CRAZY OLD LADY AND HER ANGELS TO SHOW UP... IF THEY ASKED HIM FOR SALT FOR ANOTHER "GODLY MISSION" SOMEONE WOULD DIE... As expected Old Woman Josie appeared with half a dozen angels surrounding her. "Hello Carlos" began the old woman in a small voice. "Do you know where Cecil is? My angels have told me that he is in great danger! They say he is at the bowling alley, soon to disappear off of the face of the Earth!" Carlos muttered a quick "thanks" and took off towards the bowling alley. He hoped he wasn't too late. What had Cecil gotten himself into now?

Carlos reached the bowling alley in under 5 minutes glad that Night Vale was so small. He rushed inside towards lane 5 (positive that this is where Cecil is) ready to hold Cecil safely in his arms once again. Above the entrance to the city was a large backpack full of rope and levers. After a moment of confusion, Carlos began working on untying the rope and setting up the levers. There was only one thing for him to do... Save his friend.

Tugging on the ropes to be sure that they would hold his weight, Carlos tied the end around his waist and began lowering himself into the dark hole.

Keeping one hand on the rope above him, and the other hand on a rope that kept him in place, Carlos was able to move quickly. Even though his arms tired quickly, he didnt stop because fear kept him going. He was determined to help his friend in anyway he could, but first he would have to find him.

Time passed slowly... but after about 20 minutes Carlos could see a small blob below him that HAD to be Cecil.  "Cecil!!!" screamed Carlos (hoping he would be heard) ... The only reply was the faint "Cecil" that echoed off of the walls that grew quieter until it disappeared altogether.  Hearing his own voice stop made Carlos feel alone and scared. After several more attempts to be heard he decided to keep going.  By this time Carlos's hands were covered in blood... but he couldn't have cared less. His pace slowed until he couldn't hold his own weight anymore. His hands released the rope and he plummeted towards the ground. In this moment he thought for sure he was a goner, if he hadn't been so careless as to let a knot tie in the rope he would have been. By some lucky coincidence he stopped falling and swayed gently  on the rope.
