3 : Odd Beam

"It's that, but you make us realise something else too. A weakness in the system." Ming indicated. He wanted to say more but Forth eyes signal him to stop discussing further. They will find solutions to it later but Beam, however, has something to say about it.

"Ahh..that. It's been happening for quite some time though, but it must be mutual. No one would let someone they didn't trust replacing them unless he was trustworthy enough because they need the job. Badly. The pay here is good so they won't jeopardise their spot here. So no worries. The other waiters knew me as Wayo's brother and Phi Mai also allowed it. But I think I screwed up just now." Beam explained how the internal system between waiters works but can't help to also regret the incident that happened tonight. Maybe it did gives the hotel demerits in their service if the woman raises a complaint.

Even though Ming, Kit and Forth worry decreasing a bit, something needs to be done for security reasons. They can't wait for bad things to happen first before taking any safety measures.

"Anyway, thanks for saving me. I appreciate the help. So do you need anything in returns?" Ming and Kit were surprised with Forth offer. That's dangerous to just offer someone they barely know vaguely like that. They didn't even run a background check on Beam yet.

"Food."

Beam mind is screaming you but his hungry stomach is winning the poll at the moment.

"Can I have food? I'm starving and tired. And hurt! Damn! That woman, I swear her hand is made of steel. I got hit a lot but nothing compared to her slap." Beam rants as the sting he felt on his left cheek is still lasting.

Food?

Did they hear him right?

"Are you sure you don't want anything else?" Forth asked again much to both of his friend's dismay.

"Emm...ah!" Beam is thinking hard.

Forth knew it. This man is like other people he knows. Selfish, greedy and...

"Can Wayo still work here? That kid I swear is gonna kill me the moment he knew I ruin his career prospect here." Beam added with his hopeful eyes to them, Forth especially. You are still there but Wayo future won it this time.

...or not. Forth wasn't expecting that kind of answer.

"He can." Forth answer shortly as Beam smiles widely, relieved that Wayo job was saved. "But do you want anything for YOURSELF?" Forth keeps pushing and stressing the yourself, he didn't see Kit is already boring a hole in his face.

Beam, however, is weirded out by Forth continuously asking him the same question as he expected him to gives him a different answer."Food. I want food. I'm hungry." Beam firmly said squinting his eyes at Forth.

Kit is laughing out loud at Beam seemingly to be irritated face towards Forth. Other people might already ask Forth for money, a high paying job or better, himself but Beam, after being asked thrice he just needs food and for his brother to keep his job. His part-time job. Not even a request to give his brother a full-time job.

Odd Beam.

"I'll get you food." Kit answers Beam request for something to satiate his hunger. "And you can go freshen up in that room. It will wash away the tiredness a bit. We still need to talk to you about something." Beam nodded and say his thanks before entering the room Kit shows to refresh himself. He smells of alcohol.

"He is full of surprises is it?" Kit asked his Boss.

"But is he trustworthy? The room will show his true self." Forth asked again. His life is full of two-faced people he has a hard time trusting strangers without having their background check first. Beam is the exception of the one rule after a long time because of what he has done for him tonight and it seems like Beam is passing his test with flying colours so far. Forth hopes it continues like that.
