I haven't felt like this in a while. Panic and guilt overwhelmed me as I ran through the forest. I thought about the months of planning. Why did I do it all? I couldn't remember. I knew she was right. She looked so earnest, so ... broken and it was all my fault. I had destroyed the one person who cared about me. I froze. Lucy. What happened to lucy! How could I have been so stupid! She wasn't the only person who cared about me! I let out a scream and collapse to the floor. Idoit!
"Adam, it's going to be alright." I jolt upright as I feel a hand on my back only to be staring straight at Lucy, in that moment I break. Sobbing like a child as I hug her "Tell me you're okay, please just tell me you're okay" she hugs me and strokes my hair "I'm alright Adam, they didn't hurt me" It takes a while but I calm down. I look her up and down when I'm more composed, she's dripping wet head to toe and looks exhausted. "What happened to you?" Lucy laughs and explains what had happened, why she couldn't Fight them off and how Jedd had come back for her, told her what had happened and sent her to me. I let my head drop silently. Lucy lets out a small giggle
"All of it is okay now Adam. All we have to do, is find Raina.... right?"
I look up at her once more, her red eyes are smiling and I realise that I've been chasing the wrong person the entire time. "Yeah, we do" I manage a smile back "and this time, we'll do it right"
