Chapter 63: Grief

Your POV

I hit the wall hard as I didn't have time to brace myself against it. I wasn't expecting Seth to do something like that. Why would he bother? He got caught up in the initial explosion of Reiss' transformation, why wouldn't he try to save himself? Because he's poisoned..?

It's crazy, I've never seen anything like it, Reiss' titan is huge and it is still transforming. How the hell is this going to go? Is he just going to keep growing and burst through the ground to the surface? Armin and Hange are in for a minor heart attack.

... There is no way Seth could have survived this.. I feel weird about it.. But I don't have time to worry or whatever right now, I have to get to Eren.

I deploy my anchors just behind Eren and Historia so I could help, "If someone from the Reiss family becomes a titan, then he can just eat me here!"

Ugh, are they still having this conversation? Eren and Historia still seem to be arguing, "It's fine, Historia! Run! Both of you! (Y/n) has her gear, go!"

"No!" Historia and I both yell in unison.

"Why?!"

"I may be humanity's enemy, but I'm also your friend, Eren," Historia answers as she continues to try and unlock the chains around Eren's legs, "I can't be a good girl, and I don't want to be a god. But when I see someone crying, saying no one needs them... I want to tell them it's not true. No matter who, no matter where, I'll come to the rescue!"

It's amazing how much Historia has changed, Ymir would be proud of her. Though she probably knew this side of her already existed. The rest of us just had to play catch up.

Historia finishes unlocking the lock she was working on, but when she let go briefly to get to the other one, she is forced back by the force of the wind from Reiss' explosive transformation.

"Historia!" I gasp as I reach out to grab onto her. But I wasn't quick enough and she started tumbling back toward the wall.

I look behind to see if she is okay and I smile with relief when I see Mikasa fly to her rescue. They must have come when they heard Reiss begin to transform. Kind of hard to ignore something like that.

"Give me the keys!" Levi shouts to Historia as he lands next to me, "Glad you came in ahead of time?" Levi grumbled at me, "You sure helped out a lot."

"Shut it, I have this all under control, clearly I have a plan." I smirk, still holding onto Eren for dear life.

"Oh yeah? What's that?"

"Waiting for you to get here, duh."

"Brilliant."

Levi grabbed the keys from Historia and worked on the last lock on Eren's leg.

"Hey shirtless wonder!" Jean lands next to Eren too, "It's not just that titan, guys with guns are flying this way as well!"

"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Levi mutters, "The roof is going to collapse."

Levi gets the last lock off of Eren and Jean grabs him to bring him closer to the wall where Historia and the others are. Levi grabs me and studies me quickly for injuries, "Levi, move!" I push him back as a huge chunk of solid material comes crumbling down, aiming straight for us as if it had an agenda.

I use my gear to attach to the wall and grab onto Levi. When we hit the wall I bonk him on the head, "Stupid! You always lecture me about being careful! You were too busy making sure I was okay to notice a giant boulder of death aiming straight at you!"

"... You love this, don't you? Lecturing me for once."

"Yeah, a little."

We all look back over at Reiss who is still growing bigger and bigger, "Really, just how shitty can this day get?" Levi complained, "That thing looks like it's getting bigger than the colossal titan."
