We finally did it. Not to say there isn't still a lot that needs to be done, but for now I can sit back and appreciate what we've been able to accomplish so far. It's been a very busy couple of months.

Hange was so excited when I brought her my father's instructions and a couple more vials of his formula for analysis. We had to make a plan in order for us to get some more titan spinal fluid samples. But first thing was first, we had to confirm that this fungus actually did exist.

And, as my father suggested, we were able to find them within Wall Maria. We were able to cut off a few branches with mature specimens and ones that were just starting to grow. We brought them back to Hange's lab so we could cultivate them and try and control their growth.

We used one of the vials to test out how well it worked on some titans in the area. It seems to work well enough if you are 20-30 feet away, but if we got any closer, the titan would notice us there. So, it is an improvement on what we are able to do before. If you cover yourself as he recommended, we were able to get within 15 feet without being noticed.

Although, it was used on just regular titans, we are not sure how they work when it comes to abnormals, if at all. But we will have to try that out at later dates.

We haven't been able to inject the fungus with titan spinal fluid. The syringe Levi received from Kenny is being prioritized for the upcoming mission. It's not like we have extras, and we have been trying to figure out a 'safer' way to extract spinal fluid from a titan. But even then, it's tough to perfectly replicate it, we've been trying to study the sample we got from Kenny... Unfortunately, it is very difficult to do so, as it evaporated quickly when it leaves the bottle or syringe and is exposed to air.

First we have to figure out how to recreate the titan spinal fluid that have been used to turn people into titans... My father omitted that information it seems. Did he even know? He had to know... right? Maybe he was just supplied it and never actually manufactured it. That would make sense, why would he go out of his way to tell me about his titan deterrent formula, only to leave out how to actually work with titan spinal fluid.

Other than that, the operation to round up as many orphans as we can has been going well for the most part. I've been spending most of my time in the underground trying to save as many as I can. The money I got from my father was used to refurbish an older building on one of the Reiss properties. We were able to build some additional buildings as well, so we can eventually have more people here to look after the orphans as well.

I was happy to give the money to Historia, especially when she expressed she had similar thoughts for the orphans above and below ground. She doesn't want anymore children to have to grow up like that, and I agree. Every child deserves this chance, no matter where they are coming from.

The 2 little girls hiding in my old house were, thankfully, still there after we got our plans underway. Ash was able to give me the locations of about 10 other orphans he came across at that time while he was travelling to and from work.

It's a difficult adjustment though, for many of the kids. Quite a few of the ones we caught are older, and have already been severely abused and neglected, leaving them pretty wary and defensive when it comes to adults. Some of them can be rather violent, because that is the only thing they know about survival in the underground. We are doing our best to do what we can to rebuild their trust in others. There is hope that behaviour can be managed and redirected. It's going to be a long road, but im not giving up on them. They deserve the chance to change, just like anyone else, it's not their fault they were raised under such horrible circumstances.
