"oh stop it," astoria blushed as draco flirted with her.
draco swung an arm around her shoulder whispering pickup lines into her ear, so close that it was almost as if he was kissing her.
the brunette girl shoved his chest in a joking manner.
as y/n turned the corner of the hallway, she saw the two students in front of her.
astoria's face immediately fell as she cleared her throat, nudging draco in the ribs.
"ow why so serious," draco winced, but when he made eye contact with y/n, he immediately pulled his arm away and stood straight.
"hey astoria, hey draco," y/n greeted with a small smile.
"hey baby," draco greeted his girlfriend.
"i'm gonna go..." astoria quickly shuffled away from the couple.
"i'm gonna go as well..." y/n whispered lowly as she made her way to the slytherin common room.
she sped walk back to the dungeons, draco trailing behind her.
when y/n stepped into her empty dorm and tried to close the door behind her, draco stopped it with his feet.
he led himself into the girl's dorm.
"spit it out," he spat.
"what out?" the girl feigned ignorance.
"something's bothering you and i can tell," draco stood by the door, arms folded as the girl sat on her bed, leaning against the headboard.
"nothings wrong," y/n mumbled, fiddling with her fingers.
"bullshit," draco was losing his patience with the girl.
"i said, nothing's wrong," y/n's voice now louder by a decibel.
"god! if i'm asking you what's wrong just answer me!" draco banged his fist against the wall, causing the picture frame that hung on it to fall and shatter.
the shock of it all caused y/n to jump, a small tear leaving her eye despite how hard she tried to blink it away.
she got up from her bed and rushed over to the broken glass on the floor.
the picture in the frame was of her and draco a year ago, their faces were smushed together, the biggest grins on their faces.
y/n loved that picture of her and draco because she felt like it was the very last moment they shared where he was truly in love with her.
she cherished that picture with all of her heart.
she swept up the pieces of glass with her hands, the shards piercing her skin, causing cuts to fill her delicate and soft palms.
but she didn't care, she just wanted to make sure the picture was safe.
sobs left her mouth, due to the pain in her heart and not the one in her hands.
"stop it y/n you're hurting yourself," draco bent down and tried to grab her hands.
"no! just let me be," the girl continued to sweep the glass to the side, trying to pick up the picture, more painful sobs leaving her mouth.
draco sighed and pulled the crying girl into his chest, rubbing small circles on her back and resting his hands on her cheek while she broke down into his chest.
"shhhh it's alright, you're alright," draco comforted.
"you know i love you right? so much," he cooed.
y/n knew that he really didn't.
maybe he used to, but certainly not anymore.
real or not, those eight letters sounded great leaving his mouth.
and so, y/n pushed all the thoughts in her head aside, and let herself once again foolishly succumb to his words.
even if he didn't love her, she loved him, and maybe that was all y/n needed to be happy.
