Natasha had been giving her looks ever since Layla and Loki had come out of the room, holding hands. When Heimdall approached the two of them, she managed to slip away and make her way toward her friend.

"Are you mad at me or something?" she asked.

Natasha raised a brow. "Of course I'm mad at you," she scoffed. "We could have made it that day. Both of us. But instead... you know what you did,"

"I'm not sorry I chose to save you," Layla replied. "But we both know what would have happened if I didn't do that,"

"You can't know that. We could have fought our way through, we had almost made it. And then you went and did that,"

Layla crossed her arms. "I was the one keeping us slow anyway. You would have gone out long before if it wasn't for me,"

"My God," Natasha muttered, rolling her eyes. "You had just taken out multiple weapons of mass destruction,"

Layla didn't reply. Her friend looked back at her. "Look, you were my responsibility, okay? From the start, I had to look after you. Not because Fury or someone told me to do otherwise but because I wanted to. You were barely an adult, it was my job to make sure you didn't go through the worse side of our job,"

"And then you go and let them capture you instead of me. I can't even imagine the things they must have ordered you to do. So, don't come to me with this bullshit," Nat finished.

"I'm sorry," Layla replied, "But if I was to get captured, I'm glad it happened that way. You mean a lot to me too and I knew what they would have done if they got to you too,"

Nat huffed. "We both could have avoided that,"

"We're here now, right? Still here and standing," Layla replied and waited until her friend could gather it together.

"You owe me a milkshake," Nat said eventually and reached in for a hug.

Layla chuckled in response and hugged her back. "Deal,"

When they pulled apart, Steve was walking to them slowly. "Here," he said and handed her an earpiece.

"Thanks," she said and put it on. It felt weird to do so, this was just like their old routine before everything fell to shit. But, at least, they were together now.

Steve scratched his beard. "I've given one to them too, but, I, I don't think they know what it does yet," he said and pointed toward Loki and Heimdall.

They all turned toward the Asgardians, looking at the pieces on their hands, looking at them weirdly.

"I'll take care of it," Layla chuckled and started walking toward them.

"You put those in your ear," she said when she got closer and pointed to her own. "It'll help to communicate during the fight,"

"This little thing?" Loki asked.

She nodded. "Yes, our technology is not that underdeveloped,"

"We're here," Sam said then, gaining the attention.

Layla had never been to Wakanda before but she heard of the real Wakanda from Steve and she was excited to see it.

She made her way up to the front, where Sam was sitting, and looked out of the window. "We are about to go through the force field," he said.

"The force field?" she asked.

"Yeah, it's something that protects the real city," Steve replied. Layla furrowed her brows, there was no city in sight. It was just an empty plain beneath them.
