They were up to something.

Layla could feel that in her bones. For the last few days, against her best judgment, there was a little whisper inside her mind.

Thor and Loki would sneak away from the crowd and go whispering in places. Sometimes, they didn't even do the decency of sneaking away and just started whispering in a corner.

"What are we looking at?" Val asked, stepping next to her.

She scrunched up her face. "I don't know, yet. Do they seem suspicious?"

"They look ridiculous,"

Layla rolled her eyes at Val. "Do they look they are up to something?"

"Are you asking me if they're planning something preposterous?"

"Maybe,"

"Those two are always up to something when they look like that,"

"Oh, great,"

Val snorted. "Just let it go, Wilson. You have other things to worry about today,"

"Right," Layla exhaled and turned to her. Thor and Hulk managed to complete the town hall three days ago without demolishing it again. Val had checked it out on her own and did some of her own thing and they'd have a big dinner there together with the village tonight.

The village was almost done. Which meant Layla's time here was coming to a close. She was sure as soon as the construction was done completely, they'd call her back.

Loki hadn't caused a problem and the higher-ups probably would let him stay on his own without supervision. Even if they didn't, she was sure it'd be someone else than her.

"Wilson," Heimdall called, walking up to them. "Val, oh, hi. Have either of you seen Korg?"

Val shrugged. Layla turned to Heimdall. "I think he's been cupped in his house, playing that new game non-stop,"

"Oh,"

"Why?"

"I needed him to help me sort out the last shipments," Heimdall answered. For the past month and a half, the Norweigan government had kept on sending packages to help them.

Val threw her arm over Layla's. "Wilson can help you. With her little trick," she winked.

Layla put out a small smile. "Sure, I have some time before I need to teach Ari driving,"

Ten minutes later, she was surrounded by boxes all around. Heimdall was next to her, looking over the contents of it. This was probably the first time she was alone with him.

"I'll admit, seeing it and experiencing are two very different things," he finally said.

"Oh yeah," She mumbled, turned to him. "If you don't mind, what exactly did you do back on Asgard? Like Thor would call you and there'd be lights and he'd disappear,"

He smiled. "I was the guard of the Bifrost Bridge. I watched over the Nine Realms for their protection,"

She gathered it was a big deal and also couldn't help but feel a tiny bit of jealousy, it sounded so very cool. They had Avengers for Earth but the Nine Realms, it must have been tough. "Sounds hard,"

"Everything worth doing is," he replied.

His tone was firm. Layla remembered Thor briefly telling them about life on Asgard and tried to put the pieces back together.

"If you could see and hear everything in the Nine Realms-"

"- I can still-"

"-oh, well, if you can still do that, how come you didn't know where Korg was?"
