Hyunjin stared intently at the yellow folder. He sucked in a deep breath, licking his lips as he flipped to another page.

He still didn't know where to put the two unnamed people in those slots that Felix left open. Let alone who they could have possibly been. Yuto didn't say anything to him about it, either. Only giving him a taunting smirk.

He then puinched the back of his pen in between his teeth, sighing as he scrunched up his nose. All he had gotten from Yuto was that he was the one that committed the murder a while before.

Releasing a sigh, he flipped onto another page, to examine the evidence that was printed onto the paper from the murder he had investigated before Sangyeon's. His lips puckered, and he bit down on his tongue. The only thing that was connecting the two was the symbol.

The symbol.

Hyunjin pulled one of the evidence envelopes on the table closer. He then pulled out the pendant that Felix had given him, the same one he had stolen.

He held it in his hand, staring at the minimalist decal on one of the surfaces. He wished that this could be easier- figuring out just what was happening and bringing it to a close. It would have been so much easier if things went as planned.

Felix watched him from the kitchen, washing dishes in the sink. Hyunjin could feel his eyes on him.

He rolled the pendant between his fingers before setting it down on the table. His eyes returned to the paper in front of him, and he pressed a sigh through his nose as he read over the words for Sangyeon's investigation again.

Evidence of the deceased fighting against the attacker. Four antemortem incisions, as well as a puncture wound to the chest. Clean laceration on neck.

Pressing his lips together, he set the folder down and pressed his elbows to the table. "Yuto's story is all wrong," he muttered, "it doesn't line up."

"What are you mumbling about now?" Felix's disinterested question startled him out of his work-focused daze.

He raised his head, eyes wide as he stared at him. "The story Yuto told me. It doesn't line up with Sangyeon's autopsy nor the crime scene."

The chair to his left moved out from beneath the table, and Felix sat down on it after a moment. Though it was technically against policy for anyone outside of the agency to be aware of an ongoing investigation, Hyunjin simply let him read what was on the case file.

"Does it line up with any of the other murders that are recorded?"

Hyunjin shook his head immediately. "Not that I can recall. And none of them look like Sangyeon's, either. It doesn't make any sense."

A hand landed on his shoulder, and Felix massaged it comfortingly. "Some things just don't make sense. And these people are obviously smart about how they work."

Hyunjin shrugged his shoulders slightly, inhaling deeply before he leaned his arms against the table. "I just wished that the evidence would add up? Because none of this makes any sense. None."

The folder moved from beneath his elbow, and he turned to glance at Felix, who began to analyze the text once again. The two of them were silent for a moment, before Felix finally let out a sigh and clicked his tongue.

"Is this your case file? Did you put it together?" Felix asked, not taking his eyes off the pages.

Hyunjin nodded his head. Because it was his file- he put it together and he was positive that things made sense, at least to himself. He knew that he wasn't the only one with a file on the case, but this file was his, Everyone else had their own files.

"Do you have locks on your drawers at the office? I assume that's where you leave these when you come home," he mused soon after, flipping over the page to examine the paper. "Hyunjin, do you think someone could have recreated your file so that it was messy?"

After a moment, Hyunjin cleared his throat and dropped his forehead against his forearm, releasing a small cry-like noise. "Someone could have tampered with it. But the building is high security, how would-"

He halted his words once he realized what he was saying, shaking his head slightly. He hated knowing that he was still working with people who had no sense of the truth. He didn't like knowing that he was working with dirty agents.

"Maybe ask Eric to look at his own thing, Hyunjinnie, it might not be messed with like yours is," Felix suggested, "no matter what, I believe you're going to be able to figure out this whole thing."

Although Hyunjin had been told multiple times that he could figure that out, he wasn't all too sure this time around. It was all becoming too big of a mess. He wanted to figure it out. All of it.

Clenching his jaw, he let out a small sigh.

After a muted click of his tongue, Hyunjin flipped the file closed and shut his eyes tightly.

He was battling the same people he was meant to be working with.

"How do we know if Eric's aren't tampered with?" Hyunjin asked meekly, opening his eyes to gaze at Felix.

"Because he takes his home." He stood, now standing directly behind Hyunjin. "He doesn't leave it at work."

Hyunjin inhaled deeply, nodding his head. He knew it would have been wise to ask someone else rather than hunt the file down on his computer- especially now considering the entire world pretty much knew his password.

The only thing he knew wasn't tampered with were the images.

Hyunjin knew that all of this could easily be avoided if Felix would just tell him who the little rats were. That much Hyunjin knew for sure. If they just arrested the others who were in the gang- mafia, whatever it was, then this wouldn't be an issue.

Felix lightly took Hyunjin's hands in his own, head resting on top of Hyunjin's as he slotted his fingers through Hyunjin's. Felix's palm was warm over the back of his own hand, comforting.

The two sat there for a moment, Hyunjin eventually closing his eyes as he leaned his head back against Felix's chest.

"Let's take your mind off your case for a little while." Felix offered, releasing one of Hyunjin's hands to comb a hand through his hair, pulling a hum from deep in Hyunjin's throat. "Come bake something with me."

He furrowed his eyebrows, tilting his head back as he opened his eyes to gaze at Felix, the top of his head now pressed to his chest instead. "But we haven't eaten dinner yet?"

Felix snorted, "So?" He leaned down and pressed a delicate kiss to Hyunjin's hairline. "We're both adults. We can have some brookies with ice cream for dinner if we so please to."

With a roll of his eyes, Hyunjin lifted his head and fumbled with the hair tie on his wrist, slowly stretching it to transfer it to Felix's wrist.

The other's hand eventually pulled from his own, lifting to Hyunjin's hair to pull as much of it up into a ponytail as he could.

Hyunjin released a sigh when Felix pulled his hand away from his head. His mind was swirling. Before Felix ducked away into the kitchen, Hyunjin grabbed his wrist gently, tugging Felix back again as he looked up at him.

"I want you to help me with these cases, Felix. Especially because they're connected to yours."

Felix noticeably stiffened at that, but nodded anyway. "Okay."

Although Hyunjin could feel how uneasy Felix was simply because of his grip on his wrist, he knew that Felix was going to help. He didn't doubt Felix at the moment, not when he knew that Felix wanted to figure out who killed his own parents.

Hyunjin released Felix's wrist, releasing a small sigh afterwards before he pushed himself up out of the chair.

Hopefully Felix's idea on baking would be enough to redirect his attention to something a little less stressful.
