The loud bang of a stack of papers startled Hyunjin away from his laptop. His eyes widened as he stared at it, and then stared at the deliverer.

Seungmin stared at him with an emotionless expression, unamused by the reaction he had pulled from him. "Sohn's out sick, and Rivera wants us to sort through his files while he's gone so that everything's in order."

Hyunjin's eyes furrowed, and he peered at the yellow folders curiously. "Doesn't Sohn have a special system for his organization? He knows where everything is when he needs it- why would Rivera want us to sort through his work?"

Despite having been partners for two years, he and Seungmin weren't the closest. Seungmin was really closed off about his personal life. He rarely even mentioned anything about it. But, what Hyunjin did know was that Seungmin had an agile mind- and if he wasn't introduced as an FBI agent, Hyunjin would have mistaken him for a psychologist.

He was incredibly helpful when they were performing interrogations, too- and Hyunjin liked that about him. Seungmin was manipulative and used that tactic- albeit, unfairly sometimes -to the best of his abilities.

Though, if he had to say anything, he'd say he knew Seungmin well enough. He trusted him, and Seungmin trusted him. And, really, to be fair- it was a mutual lack of knowledge when it came to the other. They never badgered each other about getting closer- they were perfectly okay with not knowing much about the other.

Seungmin just shrugged his shoulders, tugging the chair from the empty desk in front of him and dropped himself into it. "So Rivera knows where everything is. He doesn't like having to go through everything to find one file."

Then he shouldn't go through Eric's things. Hyunjin sighed with a nod of his head. "Understandable. But he should have his own files organized how he wants them, don't you think? He doesn't need to leech off of anyone else's when he has the accumulative information on the cases from every agent working a case."

He got a nod in response, and Seungmin released a heavy sigh. "I don't think that that is something we really-"

Just as Seungmin began speaking, his phone went off. Seungmin eased back into the chair in disappointment, as Hyunjin let the phone ring a single more time before he finally picked it up and put it to his ear.

He knew it wasn't going to be good. When it came to that phone, it was never good.

"This is Hwang," he stared down at the desk for a moment, and then lifted his eyes towards Seungmin once again. He swallowed thickly, before nodding his head as a 'please report to two four three East Winniker,' left the phone. He scribbled the address down on a green, clover shaped sticky note and held it out towards Seungmin. "Yeah, we'll be there. Give us a few minutes."

He pressed the phone into its place again, releasing a small sigh before he leaned back and eased into his own chair.

"I'll drive."

Hyunjin's head fell back over the top of the chair as he closed his eyes.

Hyunjin flipped the collar of his trench coat up, and then flicked it down. He yanked the folded badge from his belt, and held it up just as Seungmin did, nodding as the officer lifted the yellow caution tape to allow them inside.

He tucked away the badge, snatching a pair of gloves up off of the counter that the forensics teams provided.

This was just like any other case that they were called on. Sometimes it was quick- the most that needed to be done was attempting to identify the body. After that, the body was left to the forensics team. Depending on how bad it was, or who was involved, they would be left with the interrogation.
