"Well, mister wise guy, for your information, just because I work with them does not mean I keep up with all the shit that they do. I'm not their mother. I don't watch every damn step they make so if someone commits a murder, I might very well not know jack shit about what happens."
Hyunjin didn't even know if he could consider the man uncooperative. The man- who introduced himself as Lewis -decided to dodge questions with his own questions rather than answering, so often that Hyunjin left Seungmin to try and decode whatever it was that was asked.
Lewis refused to talk about some things. In his own right, for sure- but that didn't mean Hyunjin was any less frustrated with the outcome.
"Just like in any other setting, I have my own circle. I don't know what goes on outside of my circle and I don't care to know."
He stared down at the notepad in his lap, the light over his head illuminating his car enough to be able to read it. All he had gotten was a single name- Reno. And Hyunjin couldn't figure out just where that sounded so familiar.
Other than the city in Nevada.
He assumed that that was where all their answers would come from. And, although Felix had been informed of where he was going (not mentioning, really, what apartment he was going to exactly) he couldn't just try and decipher things with him without giving it away that he actually tried to get something out of the person Felix had taken off from.
Hyunjin sighed through his nose, biting down on his tongue as he read over the words scribbled over the pages. Information he knew might not be useful in the end. That's all that he saw on those pages at that moment.
It was useless. And there was no evidence pointing in Lewis's way that would be enough to accuse him of any crime at all. What they knew, what they could assume, is that his history was a clean slate. And, Hyunjin knew that just because he was affiliated with the gang didn't necessarily mean he was associated with any of the murders.
He worked a normal job. He worked in customer service. He had alibis. There wasn't anything he could use against him.
All he had against him was how he kept sending glares in his direction, and still gave Seungmin nothing short of respectful smiles. But that was nothing more than a personal issue.
"Watch your fucking mouth with me. No, how about you just fucking shut up for a minute. I don't know shit about what you and your partner are talking about. Now, with all due disrespect, get the fuck out of my apartment and don't come back unless you have a warrant."
Hyunjin groaned as he tossed the notepad into the passenger seat of his car, leaning his head forward against the top of the steering wheel with a dull thud.
Finally, Hyunjin left the car and locked it, before sluggishly stepping towards the door. His movements were slow, drained of any energy, and his eyes he could only assume were just as lifeless.
He opened the door and stepped inside, closing it with a silent thud before he pulled his blazer off of his forearm and chucked it towards the couch. Felix, who just so happened to be minding his own business, let out a noise of surprise when it smacked against his face.
"What killed your battery?"
"Work," he answered silently. Approaching the couch and taking his blazer from Felix's lap and setting it down on the arm, "Don't worry too much. I'll just go to bed early or something."
Felix nodded. "At least eat something, first, though. It should be done."
He gave a nod in response, the corner of his lips quirking up slightly. "It's been done for a little while, hasn't it?"
"Yeah."
Hyunjin laughed softly, though it was still empty. "Have you eaten yet?"
"No, I was waiting for you..." The reply was hesitant, shy- and Felix turned his head away slightly when he said it.
Hyunjin laughed, this time with much more emotion. He lightly grabbed Felix's wrist and pulled him up from the couch, tugging him towards the kitchen.
Though, they ate in silence once they were sitting down at the table. Hyunjin didn't have much to say and Felix decided not to try and pry much on what had happened. Hyunjin was sure that he'd tell Felix later- more than likely while he's laying lifelessly on his back wondering about how he was going to figure the rest of the case out.
By the time they were finished eating, the sun had completely set- leaving the rest of the neighborhood lit up with dull colors from the streetlights.
Hyunjin washed the few dishes Felix had left, and the dishes that they used, with Felix feeding Kkami whatever chicken he had boiled earlier in the day. When Hyunjin asked why he was treating the little Chihuahua like he was a canine god, he had simply gotten a 'raw feeding is bad so I'm not raw feeding him.'
Which he understood with just a nod of confusion.
He would leave the person who knew what he was doing, to do whatever he needed.
Once they had both showered and gotten into a clean pair of clothes, they both dropped onto their respective sides of the bed. Eventually, after failing a couple times to leap up a single time, Kkami joined them at the foot of the bed, in the most empty space.
"Do you want to talk about what bothered you today?"
Hyunjin swallowed thickly at the question, turning his head to the side to look at Felix. Named male kept his eyes up at the ceiling, and for a moment all Hyunjin could do was admire his side profile and the way his nose curved or his lips pouted lightly.
"The guy we went to talk to wouldn't tell us what we wanted to hear," he answered, finally peeling his eyes away from Felix's face, "but it was within his rights, I suppose. There was nothing we really could have done."
The bed shifted beside him, and he dropped his head to the side again to glance at him. Felix was now propped up on his elbow, facing him completely.
Felix then sighed. "Is there anything helpful that he said at all?"
Turning his eyes back to the ceiling, he shrugged his shoulders. None of it really did help, aside from the name Reno being mentioned. Otherwise, there wasn't anything.
"Sam," the way the name rolled through Felix's lips was slow, sympathetic almost, "you'll get there. These people, they're good at covering their tracks. This isn't an easy case. None of this is easy."
Hyunjin closed his eyes and pressed the air out of his chest forcefully. "I know. But I wish that it'd be so much easier to get information from people."
"I'm sure, I think we all wish that it was that easy- but it isn't, especially not when it comes to them. They aren't easy to catch, Hyunjin," Felix placed his hand timidly against Hyunjin's clothed chest, just barely curling his fingers before he extended them again, "but you'll get them where you want them. You wouldn't just give up like that."
He turned his head to look at Felix again, looking right into his eyes as he offered him a tiny smile, shoving the feeling that fluttered in his stomach as Felix's fingers moved the shirt over his skin slightly. "Thank you, Felix."
"It's not a problem. Just relax and believe in yourself a little bit. If you keep doubting it, nothing will get done."
Without much of a thought, Hyunjin extended his arm out towards Felix, lightly cupping his cheek in the palm of his hand to stroke his cheekbone. "I'll try."
It didn't take much more of Hyunjin gently stroking Felix's cheek with his thumb for Felix to shuffle closer to him. When he did so, Hyunjin let out a content sigh as he wrapped his arm over his shoulder, letting his own fingers brush over his shirt slightly.
"Goodnight, Hyunjinnie."
With a gentle smile, Hyunjin shifted himself slightly and closed his eyes, bringing Felix a bit closer to him before he mumbled a quiet, "goodnight, little dove."
