Scout POV:
"Why did you tell us to halt? We could have had a surprise attack on the two right there Havor!." Kalis would say, partly infuriated by my decision to let them go for now. "They mentioned a diamond Kalis, they could lead us to it and we could be rich next time we return to the empire, we could get a better job then scouts and go wherever we want" I would say back, knowing diamonds are valuable, my mind is now set on finding them. "We? There is no "we" in your dream of treasure, and you would become rich and leave your position in the empire and go against the great emperor?" Kalis would say, questioning my loyalty now. "I never said that Kalis, though just think of the possibilities with it, I could finally travel around the land, or buy a nice house, and maybe just be a bounty hunter on the side instead, I could retire from being a scout if I find enough treasure." "Keep dreaming Havor, but we have a mission to complete right now, I need you focused on the mission for right now, not on the possible treasure" Kalis would say and then I would respond again, "we could do both, catch Grayson, find the dragon egg he stole, and find the diamond they mentioned and then we would be set for life." "Perhaps, but you're not getting it, we have a mission assigned to us by the great emperor finally, and I'm not going to ruin this chance to complete it and make him proud. I'll not get distracted with your greedy obsession of treasure if I can help it." I deeply sigh, a bit annoyed through the argument I cant influence Kalis just slightly towards the thought of treasure, his mind is too set on simply completing this mission. I suppose the mission is important as well, "You and your greed is going to stab you in the back one day if you're not careful." Gregory would finally say quietly behind me and I look over, giving him a slight glare, "you would miss an opportunity to become rich beyond measure?" He doesn't even hesitate to respond back to me, "depends on the risk I have to take for it, I value my life more than treasure." I was still in a bit of shock from this, some treasure could turn one's life around into something much better than it is now, and so perhaps one should risk their life now to possibly find treasure and then have a better life later on if one is successful, Kalis suddenly interrupts my thoughts, "we should be continuing on now if we are to catch them again and make the emperor proud, and the next time we come across them I'm going in to strike, whether you have found this diamond they speak of or not, and this time I think I'll be leading the group for a while." He finishes and begins marching forward in the direction Grayson and Drake went, not waiting up for us, I call out to him, "who made you leader all of a sudden?" "No one, but me and Gregory are the only two who seem to have our minds focused on the mission right now, no one even assigned you to the leader role either, so how about you just take a break from leading, I think you've done enough for now and until your heads focused on the mission again, we can handle things for now." He finishes as a final statement, I consider protesting some more but decide to let it go, for now, as the two have already begun to leave without me. Gregory is already following Kalis, and I reluctantly trail behind the group.
