I took a deep breath before entering my mom's hospital room. I use my right hand to open the door up.

I see my mom with her eyes closed lying there almost lifeless. It's always been me and my mom, she's always told me her adventures as a young teen.

She even told me a few truths at a young age, only because she doesn't like keeping secrets. Mom ran away from her family because she knew no one would accept her, or even support her. After all, she was pregnant at a young age. I never asked about my dad only because I never wanted to come in front of the man who never wanted me.

Or that's what I thought. I sat down in the only chair in the room, near mom's bed.

"Mom," I whispered. She slowly fluttered her eyes open. Mom has cancer, the last stage. Doctors say she can die any day now, but I know nothing is going to happen to my mama because she's a strong woman.

My name is Grey Stone. I'm 17 years old and a high school graduate. I haven't thought about college only because I don't have the money for that. I work a part-time job as a waitress at a famous restaurant.

"Grey, hey"

"Hey mama, you doing okay"

"never been better" my eyes start to water "mom please don't leave me" at this point tears are running down my face.

"I will never leave you, my baby, never" I didn't realize when I fell asleep but I did on the couch.

Grey's moms pov:
I turned around to see Grey fast asleep on the couch. I try to pull myself up. I grab my phone from the nightstand and start to dial a phone number. The phone ringing made my heart beat faster and faster. "Hello" "it's me, Anna," I say.

Greys pov:
At this point, mom is sleeping. What IF something happens to mom, where will I go? I slowly pull mom's hand close to me, and I kiss the back of it.

I stand up and walk over to the door. As soon as I'm about to open it. The heart monitor that's linked up to mom. Stops.

My eyes widened as I processed what just happened "MOM '' I screamed loud enough for everyone in the hospital to hear.

I rush over to mom and try to wake her. "Mom, mom woke up right now, it's not funny mom" I screamed. Tears rushing down my face. Before I knew it, doctors and nurses rushed into the room.

"Miss, I need you to exit the room please," one nurse said to me "what the actual- I'm not going anywhere. That's my mom"

I yelled "I understand miss but right now we need you to exist" I got pushed out of the room. I start to pace back and forth.

"My mom is okay right," I said to the doctor that just exited the room. "I'm sorry but Anna Stone is no more"

Shock. That's what hit me. July 19 2021 is the day mom lost her battle with cancer. It's been a week. I still cry a whole lot just thinking that she's gone forever. I haven't been able to eat, sleep, or even head over to work. Right now I'm sobbing in the living room, as I hear the doorbell ring in my apartment.

I wipe the tears off my face and head over to open the door. "Um, I'm looking for Grey Stone,"

A man with a tux said. He had tattoos almost all over his body, Well I just assumed he did base on what I can see. I see he has an expensive watch and shoes on. I've never seen him in my whole life.

"That would be me," I whispered "Hi my name is James D'Angelo, I'm your biological father"
