The next morning had dawned and FRIDAY reported to Tony the appointments of the day. She reminded him of the visit with Peter, which he had completely forgotten. Because it was the day he wanted to test Bucky's arm. With tired eyes he went to the coffee machine in the shared kitchen. Nat was the first one he came across. It was packed with bags and greeted him with an apologetic look.
"Do you want to go anywhere?"
"Um, yes. I'm sorry I can't stay longer. To be honest, I've been thinking about a lot and there are a few things that I have to do. "
A twitch of surprise and a hint of uncertainty was reflected in Tony's face.
"I'll let you know when I'm back. Just promise me one thing Tony. "
Natasha stared earnestly at him and carefully placed her hand on his shoulder.
"Please don't kill yourself. And ... give Steve a chance, okay? Don't avoid him. Do it for me."
With a loud sigh, he lamented his discomfort in her words.A chance? Tony thought to himself. How many more chances should he give Steve? Wasn't it he who took one step, again and again. But it was also he who acted impulsively and annoyed him again and again. It was a vicious circle. And the more he thought about the blond-haired beauty, the more he realized that he couldn't stand it. How could he stand quietly next to him, make jokes or look at him? How did he look at him before? He didn't know anymore. A team, a family, friendship, camaraderie, what is he trying to achieve? In Tony's chest it hammered louder and louder and even if he hated to admit it, he felt a sharp pain from fear. How could he look at Steve without not thinking about their last encounter?
"I have to go. See you! "She stepped up to him, kissed his cheek and disappeared into the elevator. Before the doors closed, he wished her good luck. And he sincerely hoped whatever Nat had to do that she would be back soon.
That day started well, he thought ironically. Bucky and Steve under the same roof with him. That made it harder to avoid Steve. Especially since Bucky and Steve often squatted on top of each other. Understandable somewhere. Bucky had only Steve, whom he trusted. But Tony wanted to change that. He wanted to open up to him and fight his shadows. At least part of it. Barnes deserved to be listened to, given a chance.
Steve stepped out of his room wearing blue jeans and a light blue t-shirt. The tight shirt flattered and defined the blond's muscular torso. Like Adonis, he lit every room and attracted everyone's attention. His trousers also flattered his round and firm bottom. It was just beautiful to look at. Not a single wrinkle clouded his face, not a tired gasp came out of his lips, not a scar remained on his skin. But Steve shone brightly from the inside too. He was incredibly strong, fast and had an incredible memory. He remained true to his ideals and he fought for the freedom of every life. He was the best. He was perfect.
Shit, how unfair. Tony tried to turn his eyes elsewhere.
"Good Morning."
"Hm ... good morning," Tony muttered. Surprised, Steve stopped and looked at Tony happily before he went to the kitchen. Tony had actually spoken to him. Immediately he bit his cheek and remembered Natasha's words. Bucky came out of his room yawning as well, dressed in a red hoodie.
"Good mornääääg."
"Good morning to you, too." Pushed Tony gently with his coffee cup in Bucky's direction.
"Barnes, would it be okay for you to come to my laboratory today at 2 pm? I would like to introduce you to the prosthesis today. " Tony asked him as he reached for his tablet.
"Sure. With pleasure. " Bucky also grabbed a cup of coffee. The gravity of the circumstances and the settling in were more and more removed from his shoulders. Without even realizing it, he felt more secure day by day and his sleep rhythm became longer. Tony said goodbye with a nod and drove down to his workshop.
