It all happened so fast, way too fast. The battle against the Celestials, a brief bond with his nemesis the fantastic four, then the dimensional rift.
It was like a switch had been flipped.
A dull chime that crept vibrating through his ear.
Something was different. The multiverse was different.
With luck, he got into a reality where he could steal Reed Richard's device.
He has traveled through time several times and, thanks to Reed's bridge, also through different dimensions. But this trip was different.
Uncontrolled, unwanted, an accident. And what's more, version after version seemed to split off from him.
As if he were being torn from his person. It seemed like he was dissolving. He couldn't think, couldn't see, couldn't tell where he was. All he felt was pain. An irrepressible tearing pain of himself. He fell and fell and yet he was held on to every fiber of his body.
Eternity slipped away and after Victor opened his eyes again, his body was numb. The pain gone. The silence throbbed in his ears.
Violet ribbons twined around him in the gloomy nothingness. In the center of this chaos of continuous vines seemed to be an island with a castle. Before he even tried to fight his way there, he was drawn into another rift.
He couldn't help it. All he could do was to close his eyes and endure the pain again.
But this time it was different. While being sucked in by one of those tendrils, he felt nothing. It didn't take a blink of an eye anymore and he found himself in another world.
In this world everything seemed to glow green. Nature seemed to be in perfect harmony with humans.
He woke up in a small alley, happy that he stayed hidden.
Victor had to mingle with people, hidden and alert. He needed information and a way back.
Certainly he was curious and also wanted to learn more about these new realities, their religions, their technologies, their social processes.
It may have been an accident, but he still promised to take advantage of one thing or another.
In his reality, he would probably be mistaken for dead. If he returned, he would be able to fully his counterstrike plan with everything he had learned. Strengthen his country and weaken his enemies. completely. Without ever being surprised by anything again. Maybe.
And while he was already making his first plans and imagining the annihilation of the Fantastic Four, fate ran out to meet him. It was a statue that stood in a large square in the city. An image of a man he once dealt with. At the base of the statue were the following words: Dr. Stephen Strange. Give his life defeating Thanos. We express eternal gratitude to earth's mightiest hero.
A metallic smirk escaped his lips. So Strange fell after fighting Thanos. What a humiliating ending. Doom himself had encountered Thanos. This busybody. He was no match for Doom. No matter how big Thanos ego was, Dooms was bigger.
If Strange and Thanos existed here then so would Reed. He just had to find him. But that should be the smallest problem. Heroes always appear where something bad happens. He just has to release the evil first.
But maybe he had to do something different here if he wanted to get the secured device to Reed. Not that he couldn't build it himself, but that knowledge was well hidden by Reed Richard.
A man dressed in strange, seemingly Asian clothing, approached him. He seemed strangely familiar, but Victor couldn't remember where he might have met this man before.
