Wayne's Child of Fate

Prologue

Several years after the portal to the spirit world opened in Republic City, Avatar Korra disappeared. Many people speculated that she had perished, while others believed that she was back in hiding, like she had done in her late teenage years. What the majority of the population did not know was that the avatar cycle had already began again. Kya, the new avatar was born to a young woman in a nomadic sand bender clan in the outskirts of Omashu. Kaya was a small intelligent and quiet child, who spent the majority of her time strapped to her mother's back observing the people of her clan. Her mother, Ash, was young and inexperienced but loved Kya as much as any good mother loved their child. When Kya turned 6, Ash started to be plagued by nightmares and vision of a spirit named Purysho, demanded that Kya be brought to him. At first, Ash was scared that a malevolent spirit wanted to hurt her daughter but as the visions became more frequent and more vivid, Purysho showed her that Kya was in great danger. Ash quickly packed their small amount of belongings and hopped on the first train to Republic City to sneak into the spirit portal.

After arriving in the spirit world, several spirits met the mother-daughter duo to escort them to Purysho. Purysho met the duo in his temporary home deep in the spirit forest and asked Ash to leave Kya in his care.

"Your child is the Avatar and if she is to remain in this world she will fall into a great darkness and she will not survive," Purysho declared. "For I am the spirit of fate and time and I have foreseen the end of this world. I wish to keep Kya and train her to master the elements safe in my realm outside of time. Once she is ready I will send her to a new world where she can fulfill her destiny of bringing balance."

Ash reluctantly gave custody of Kya over to Purysho after he swore that Kya would be safe and happy. Kya spent the next 20 years in Purysho's realm training with previous benders and martial artists that had past on and ascended to the spirit world. She mastered waterbending and healing from the great Katara and Korra, firebending and lightning bending from Zuko and Iroh, Air Bending from Tenzin, Chi blocking from Ty Lee and Earth bending, Metal bending and even lava bending from Toph. Purysho, with the help of Korra, taught Kya about her connections to the spirits and her spirit self. Kya was even able to master bending the spirits of others.

Once Purysho was satisfied that Kya had reached her full potential as an Avatar, he prepared her for her journey to this new world.

"Kya, dear child, in my realm we have been free from the constraints of time. When I send you to this new world of man, you will return to your body and mind at the age of 6, as you were when you left your world of man," Purysho spoke. "You will retain your skills and knowledge but may not be able to perform some of these skills until your body and mind mature to that of an adult. Do not forget all that we have taught you, but return to your childhood and allow yourself to connect and play as you once had."

"I will Master Purysho," Kya nodded. "I will miss you."

"Fear not child, for I will reach out to a child of my realm and he will bring you to a place for you to grow and make a new family." Purysho declared. The fate spirit then placed his hands on Kya's jaw and touched his forehead to hers. A bright green light flashed briefly blinding Kya before she felt a pulling force surrounding her body and she opened her eyes to see a sea of white.

Notes: This is my first fic. I am super excited about it and very open to feedback and suggestions. I have a basic plot already sorted out but this may change if I feel like the story starts to lead in a different direction.
