Notes: Kya doesn't speak English. Since she is from a different world, her language doesn't quite match up with any currently spoken on Earth. When she is speaking in her native tongue, words will be italicized
Watchtower:
Members of the Justice League were gathered in the Watchtower for their monthly briefing. Superman was in the middle of updating league members on the recent activity of Lex Luthor when Dr. Fate quickly stood up from his chair, silencing Superman and causing everyone's head to turn toward him.
"I must be going. There is a situation that requires my immediate attention," Dr Fate decreed. Dr. Fate then stuck his hand out conjuring the symbol of the lord of order, and stepped into the symbol, disappearing from the Watchtower.
Batman frowned, looking at the space where Dr. Fate had just been. He quickly pulled out his communicated and asked Oracle for an update on everyone's status. While he was up in the Watchtower, his children were covering patrol in Gotham. While Dr. Fate was not a man of many words, he usually only got involved in situations if he deemed them to be of great importance, and his sudden departure from the meeting was putting the Dark Knight on edge.
**Message from Oracle:
Quiet Night. Nightwing and Robin stopped a couple of Muggings. Black Bat and Spoiler are covering the docks. Red Robin is still grounded covering monitors in the cave. Hood agreed to be on coms tonight but is sticking to Crime Alley.
The Bat family was definitely on better terms then they had been in the past couple of years. Jason had finally agreed to stop killing on patrol but he almost never agreed to patrol with a partner or work with the other bats unless something big was going down. Bruce sent a quick "good work" back to oracle before putting his communicator away and focusing back on Superman's presentation.
The Artic Desert:
Kya quickly formed an igloo and climbed inside to shelter her from the cold. Purysho told her that someone would come for her before she left so she figured that she should stay put and keep warm. Focusing on her breath, she conjured fire to surround her body and provide added warmth inside the igloo. Suddenly a bright light beamed through the cracks in the snow and Kya peaked her head out to see what the cause was. Standing in the middle of the white plains, was a tall figure cloaked in a blue suit with a gold helmet covering his face.
'Weird' Kya thought. She hesitated for a second but knew that she was more than capable of defending herself surrounded by snow. She mentally shrugged and stuck her head further outside the opening of the igloo.
"Do not fear me child" Fate said.
Kya frowned and tilted her head slightly to the side. She heard the man speak but had no idea what he said. In her time on man's world and the spirit world she had never heard someone speak another language. She knew they existed. The elders in her sand tribe spoke about there ancestry and read text from an ancient language when they wanted to consult older traditions but she didn't know anyone who spoke differently from her.
"Uh, Sorry Sir, but I don't understand."
The man in the helmet didn't move. Kya could tell from his aura that he was extremely powerful but he didn't feel hostile and she felt safe in his presence. She stood up and walked over to him. When she reached him she had to tilt her head upwards to look into his eyes. He stuck out his hand and she placed her smaller one within his grasp. Another yellow light flashed from his hand and she looked down at there hands curiously.
"Now we may speak freely child." The man spoke.
"Oh thank goodness. Are you the one Master Purysho spoke about?" Kya asked.
