"Where are you going?" Hermione asked as Draco walked towards the door.
"I'm going to pay Madam Rosmerta in advance," he told her.
"Oh. No, it's alright. I can do it," she said, standing up.
He waved his hand at her. "Let me. I'm the gentelmen."
"Since when," she retorted, raising an eyebrow.
"C'mon, Granger. Don't be impossible," Draco said. "Let me pay her. You don't have to do it."
"I didn't ask you to," she said. "Really, it's no big deal. Besides, I recall you saying that you didn't intend to spend any money on this project. If I'm correct, us being in the forbidden forest was part of it— and even though we got attacked, thus leading us here, the reason still leads back to the project." She folded her arms. "So let me do it."
He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why does everything come to an argument?" he sighed.
Hermione laughed outright, startling Draco. "You're right, you're right. Sorry."
Draco was stunned. He'd never seen Hermione step down from a fight. Of course, he thought too soon because she said, "We'll split it. Here." She handed him half of the amount.
Draco shook his head and laughed. "Okay, okay."
He exited the room and walked down the stairs, finding Madam Rosmerta and giving her the money. Her face molded into a warm grin.
"Thank you, Mr. Malfoy," she said. Draco frowned, not remembering giving her his name. The middle aged, woman shook her head. "I know people. Now, go on and get back to your girlfriend."
Draco blanched, his cheeks warming. "She's not my girlfriend."
Madam Rosmerta waved her hand at him. "Not with the way you two look at each other." She laughed. "Kids these days! Getting more oblivious by the second."
Draco shook his head and walked back into the room.
"So I was thinking," Hermione said the moment he walked into the room. "Since you don't want to share the bed with me and I don't want to share the bed with you, we should both sleep on the floor."
Draco frowned. "But that wastes a perfectly good bed." He held up his hands in surrender. "Look, how about we agree to stay on our designated sides and then we can both get the bed. It's big enough for both of us to sleep comfortably without touching." Hermione still looked wary. "I promise not to stab you in the heart while you're asleep."
She sighed. "Fine."
She kicked off her boots and shrugged out of her sweater, crawling into the bed. She hugged the very left side of the bed, watching Draco carefully. He too kicked off his shoes and his sweater and climbed in next to her, leaving as much space between them as he could.
He grabbed his wand and turned off the lights, leaving the two in the dark and uncomfortable silence. They both stared awkwardly at the ceiling before Hermione sighed and turned over, facing away from Draco.
He turned over too, facing the other direction to which he then fell asleep.

It was without a doubt one of the best nights Hermione had recently. She slept comfortably for multiple hours without Dreamless Sleep potion.
When she finally did wake up before the sun had risen, she noticed that she was tucked into someone, their arms wrapped firmly around her. When her brain finally caught up with her, she realized with a sinking horror that it was none other than Malfoy she was cuddled into.
