I was making my way to follow the three stooges until I saw the saleslady put the dress back.
Fuck. The stupid guilt comes back.
You shouldn't ruin her birthday, it says.
I sigh and contemplate about getting it for her. I run my fingers through my hair and my guilt decides and talks for me.
"Oh, hello sir," the saleslady says when she sees me. "Yes, the dress is still available. I can help you checkout here. It's so beautiful, Would you like me to wrap it up?"
"Yes," I answer her. As I take out my wallet to get my card, the saleslady asks me, "Would you like to see our accessory section for the dress?"
I want to say no but I don't. I actually ponder if I should follow the lady and get Eva more things. I become irritated at myself for even considering it. Now is it the guilt still or?
As before, the guilt decides for me again and I nod, "Lead the way."
She gives me a smile and brings us to the shoe's section first. She begins to show me all the shoes they have in stock and I listen intently to her advice. "These heels would look better with the dress." She holds up a platform with holes in the front with only ankle strings to hold them together. I nod at her to continue and hope she doesn't make me pick between the heels with holes in the front or the heels with no holes in the front.
I really don't give a fuck, lady. Just give me whatever you think.
I want to groan because this shit is taking forever but instead I say, "Whatever you think will look better."
Next, we move over to the glass display cases of jewelry and she pulls out all different types and shapes. I feel the same annoyance from the shoe section but I'm thrown off when she asks me, "Would you like to pick out a set, sir?"
I look at this lady and decide if I should just cuss her out for being so stupid.
No I do fucking not want to pick out a set.
She eggs me on as if I should and I know she's trying to help and do her job but fuck. I'm not good at this.
I answer her unsurely with a little of annoyance, "I supposed?"
What the hell does Eva even like anyways? What if she hates it?
"Seems like a special someone if you're doing all of this for them." She says.
I keep my thoughts to myself and I drown out the noise going on around me including the lady's statement. I look at the earrings first and a certain pair catches my eye. My hand goes to pick it up to examine it closer. It seems like two separate earrings but it's not, it contains a back and front piece that dangle closely when together. I notice the back piece being longer than the front and in the shape of a crescent moon. Whereas the front piece is in the shape of a bright star and fits perfectly in between the space of the moon when put together.
