Thrawn’s point of view.
Protecting the life of your loved ones is above power, wealth, everything. Although it may cost you your own life. That is something I feel for the Chiss Ascendancy. And she wanted to give her life to protect me. She didn't mind having a Jedi in front of her, or a Mandalorian. I didn't see a hint of fear in her eyes. What kind of human puts the life of an alien for whom she has no feelings above her own?
When I thought I understood humans, they surprised me again. SHE surprises me once again. Kallus truly believed that she would go with him, I also believed that for an instant. However she decided to protect me, despite having only the breastplate. She decided to protect everyone, even the Rebels. She connected with Ezra, I know.
She is too stubborn. Sometimes you can't save everyone. Kallus would know that his intentions weren't to kill them, Ezra Bridger felt it too, but the others didn't. Zeb Orelios shot on instinct. Yularen told me that Kallus participated in the Lasath extermination campaign. The traitor took the people he loved and he almost killed the person Kallus love. I hope he tortures himself believing that she is dead. All this has been due to his inability to face his work, as we all do. It isn’t about always doing the right thing, sometimes you have to do what is strictly necessary.
"How long is it going to take to recover?" Fer asks.
She has her eyes on the bacta tank in which her friend is submerged. The agent is dressed in a compression suit. I have refused to have her nude, even if it is for medical reasons. Even though seeing her without her clothes wouldn't bother me at all. I must force myself to return to my natural state and not think about this. Her friend is still waiting for my answer.
"She has some severe wounds in the abdomen, but she is submerged in a massive amount of bacta" I explain calmly. Calm that of course I am pretending "In a couple of weeks she will be fine. She will train again and do her job"
"The doctor said that she will be removed from that in a week" she says with crossed arms "And that you must order four weeks of rest after she awakes"
It makes me want to judge her insight, but it's not the right time.
"Four weeks is twenty days in the Coruscant calendar" I remind her. She seems annoyed that I have hinted that she doesn’t know the standard calendar.
"Do you know your friend? Then you know that she isn’t going to stay that long in a bed. And it is clear that she doesn’t obey my orders at all.
I turn in my position to check the scanners. The blaster shot almost went through her. For once I wish this Lasath had the usual bad aim. If he had hit her higher, he would have hit the breastplate on her chest. She would have had some damage from the plastoid hitting her chest, but nothing more. However, you know that the rebel's shot wasn’t intended to stun, but to kill.
"She should be dead" her friend says, looking at the X-rays as well. "Nobody survives a shot in the abdomen at that distance with a weapon of such power. She knows al lot of weapons. She knew the shot was going to be lethal. And yet she didn’t stop"
I look at her askance. She wears her hair the same cut as Arihnda Pryce. But this inspector is more sympathetic to me, regardless of her relationship with my agent.
"If she sensed they were going to shoot, she shouldn't have stepped in front of me" I say with a frown.
It causes me enormous disgust to see her in a coma because of a shot that was meant for me. They were going to kill me no matter what .The human seems genuinely upset with me. She wants to yell at me, but she clenches her fists. She has a temper, I understand why they are friends.
