Newt's POV:
Y/N and I ran into the maze, twisting and turning as we ran as fast as we could, trying to reach Section 7 as quick as possible. Section 7 was known to have blades that liked to turn on their own, meaning that we had to be quick enough to run through the whole thing without getting chopped into bite-sized pieces. There was also the chance that we could run into Grievers, which was a huge no-no in our books. Nobody has ever lived to see one of those slimy beasts and tell the tail.
Once we made our way to Section 5, we took a break, deciding to drink some water and stretch before making our way to our designated section. "Damn, who knew you could run so shucking fast! I was about to trip and fall if we hadn't stopped!" Y/N panted, leaning against the vine-covered walls.
I laughed, pulling her onto my lap as we sat down, drinking some water and relaxing a little. "you know, I never would've expected you out of all people to be so slow~" I teased, smirking at her annoyed look. She rolled her eyes, slapping me playfully on my chest as she rested her head against my neck, smiling.
As we finished up our little break, the sound of metal clanking could be heard close by. I looked over to Y/N, seeing the same nervous look in her eyes as we both ran behind one of the walls, peaking from behind it to see what was going on. On the other side of the wall we were hiding behind, were two Grievers, and that's when my blood ran cold.
I looked over to Y/N to see that she was practically shaking. I quickly grabbed her, pulling her into my arms to calm her down and prevent her from making any sounds. I silently told her to be as quiet as possible as we tried to walk away from the bionic monsters.
As soon as we were far enough from them, we both let out a deep breath of relief, only for it to be ruined by an ear-piercing scream. "Oh god.." I trialled off as I looked to the side, watching as Sam ran towards us, both Geroge and 2 very angry-looking Grievers hot on his tail. 'Run!" they yelled, shaking us from our thoughts. Il looked over to Y/N, seeing her panicked look. "Let's go!" I yelled, grabbing her hand as we ran for our lives...
Y/N's POV:
I felt as though my legs were on fire as we ran away from the threat behind us. I kept looking to my side, squeezing my hand to make sure that Newt was still there by my side. We weren't getting any farther away from them and the Grievers looked as though they were picking up speed.
Just as we turned to the side, we heard another scream, this time, it was a scream of pain. I looked behind ups to see George pinned by one of the Grievers, struggling to get up. I looked over to Newt, my flight or fight instincts kicking in. Newt looked over to me, a confused look on his face. "I'm sorry.." I whispered, letting go of his hand as I ran to George, screaming.
"Hey! You ugly shuckheads! How about you pick on someone your own size!" I screamed, catching their attention so that George could escape. I could faintly hear the sound of Newt screaming my name, but I ignored it, running the opposite way as I lead the two hungry beasts away from my friends. I ran as fast as I could, adrenaline pumping through me as I lead the Grievers farther and farther into the maze. But eventually, everyone runs out of stamina, and so did I.
I fell to the ground, my whole body blazing and my head spinning. I could hear the Grievers legs scraping across the concrete as they ran towards me. 'This is it. This is where it all ends... I love you Newt, I'm so sorry...' I thought as I closed my eyes, letting the darkness consume me.
But suddenly, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me, hoisting me onto their back as they ran. I opening my eyes slightly to see Ben holding me on his back, running towards the entrance of the maze. "B-Ben..." I trailed off, blacking out before I could hear anything else.
