"autumn's here, so let's play rich man-poor man! do you want to, kyo-kun? minako-chan?"

presented to minako and kyo was the deck of cards held up by honda, who was smiling innocently at them. behind her were uotani and hanajima.

two days passed by and everything seemed to be settling down. minako, kyo, and honda finally finished moving in and kyo's adjusted as much as he could to going to a 'normal' school.

minako tilted her head, "sure. is there a tradition where rich man-poor man is played in the fall?"

"oh no," the brunette shook her head, "it's just extremely popular for us!"

"well it doesn't have anything to do with me! i don't wanna play so go and bother yuki about it if you want a fifth player," kyo looked away from them all.

"way to spoil my fun, i was looking forward to playing you. your skull's so damn thick, i figured you'd make an easy mark," uotani managed to piss the cat off. "you're running away from a challenge. are you sure you're a real man?"

kyo slammed his hand on the desk, standing up and glaring at the blonde. she does the same as they challenge each other, one irked and the other glad they got someone to mess with.

"okay, you're on! try not to cry when you lose, gangster girl!"

"great! the one who loses will do cleaning duty for the other four!"

"ah what a pleasant maelstrom of waves," hanajima cupped her face with a single hand as kyo and uotani continued to argue.

honda turned to the side, "i wonder where sohma went..."

"there was a girl who pulled him aside," minako answered.

she already knew why he was being pulled aside when she saw how anxious the girl who asked for him to follow her was. it was clearly a confession, one that would leave the girl upset because yuki would only reject her.

dating someone who wasn't cursed is more complicated than being together with someone who is, although both had a pile of problems.

for a zodiac getting together with another would make it seem as if they're betraying their bond with akito— with god of all people. akito was a bundle of problems himself and if he even figured out, then there would be no happy ending.
