01. the dove

a true and real relationship is one that occurs naturally. it shouldn't be forced onto you and make you feel as if you're suffocating, a bond should occur naturally and make you feel as if you're floating.

you're meant to look forward to everyday, look forward to seeing the people these bonds are formed with. but when it's a bond hundred of years old and written in your bodies from birth, it becomes a blessing and a curse.

one can turn into a beautiful animal but at the cost of being enveloped in the opposite gender's arms.

one can form genuine relationships but remember that these were options given to them and not chosen.

one can currently roam the world but only to return and be confined to a place that'll become where they pass.

that's what the curse of the sohma clan was. connections put onto fourteen different individuals throughout time, meant to be an eternal friendship but turned into an everlasting misery.

fourteen individuals, as soon as they're birthed, are cursed as a zodiac animal. there are the thirteen from the chinese zodiac tale that most know, but there's another in the legend of the sohma clan.

the dove.

the current inhabitant of the dove was minako sohma; sixteen year old first year at kaibara municipal high school. she attended with one of her 'cousins' and fellow zodiac member. he was yuki sohma, who takes the rat zodiac.

"i've heard an awful lot about you walking to school with honda. is everything alright?" yuki was asked by minako.

in class, the sohmas worked together to cook a simple meal. the silver-haired male chopped and organized the ingredients as minako took the lead while cooking, yuki wasn't very good at it anyway.

"yes, she doesn't know. i found her talking with shigure this morning," yuki answered. "she said she lived nearby."

"doesn't the family own the area around it though?" minako wonders as she tucked her wavy white hair behind her ears.

the sohmas were probably the most influential family in the town. they owned buildings like office and hospitals and gained much money from it. so any properties outside the main estate wouldn't be near others in case of a zodiac transformation.

"i suppose they do, i'll have to ask shigure about it later."

"speaking of, please tell him i'll be coming later tonight if you two plan on leaving. that monstrous kitchen is clean, right?"

the rice cooker beeped and opened as silence came from the boy, who finished cleaning up. he remembered back to this morning, something he did that wouldn't please minako.
