The two days after our wedding had been nothing but pure bliss. Of course, when we reached the tavern of the inn Ezio and I had been staying at Leonardo instantly bought everyone their drinks, pointing out that we had been married, and the entire tavern seemed to erupt in dancing and music everyone singing and drinking and having a good time. It was simple, no fancy nonsense, and lively. Ezio had kept me at his side the entire time, his arm wrapped around my waist as if giving warning to the men who dared try to approach me, and any time he sat down I had been pulled into his lap. He kept to his promise too, while Leonardo got drunk off his ass Ezio and I went upstairs after he had two drinks, and the first thing we had done was make love like any other couple would after their marriage, excluding Federico and I as we hadn't done anything after our wedding, but after that the past two days had been nothing but non stop fucking. Fucking as in he wanted to establish to me and to others I was only his and by the gods did I love it when he did that. My need to be dominated by him had become more evident as I begged him to be a bit rougher. I wanted to feel that because it made me feel alive and intrigued.

We had been left unbothered too, and almost for a third day until news of the meeting had reached us. All good things had to come to an end but we had all the time in the world. Seeing as they had already been aware of Ezio's presence in Venezia and they had no clue I was still alive I kept to the ground while Ezio kept to the roof, wanting to play it safe. After Seta it was wise to keep his presence unknown. Hood up, leaning against the wall I had sat across from a thin older man as he looked around a bit nervously. Out of the corner of my eye I caught Ezio up above him, crouched along the edge of the roof as he gave me a slight nod.

"Where's Emilio?" A man asked, just as a big man walked up, a burgundy hood hiding his face. The older man seemed to perk up at that mention as he stood up getting ready to leave.

"I told him to be here"

"You told him yourself? In person?" The other man asked curiously.

"Yes, myself, in person... Im concerned that you dont trust me" the other man said in disbelief.

"As am I" The other man said before waving his hand and began walking off, leaving the shaded bench and began to walk off down the street. Pushing myself off the wall we began to tail them. "Perhaps he'll arrive with the others. Walk with me. So how goes things at the palace?"

"Honestly its difficult... Moncenigo keeps his circle close. I have tried to lay the groundwork, making suggestions, but he has other voices in his ear"

"Then you must work harder, you must become part of his inner circle"

"Sì I understand. But its harder then I expected"

     "And why is that Carlo?"

"I don't know! Hes just a.... The Dodge doesn't like me"

"I wonder why" The man said dryly, almost as if he hadn't liked the man besides him just as much. I hung back just a bit, not wanting to catch their attention seeing as the streets were somewhat bare.

"It's not my fault! I keep trying to please him. I learn what he craves and I have it delivered- the finest jams from the orchards of Sardinia! The newest fashions from Milano"

"Yes and that's called being a sycophant"

"A what-? What did you call me?"

"A doormat. A flatterer. A bootlicker. Need I go on?"

"Bastardo- you dont know what its like. You don't understand the pressure in there"

    "Oh I dont understand pressure?"
