(Y/N) Sohma had never seen Kyo's final form. She had only heard of it from Akito, who spoke of it with disgust, from Kagura, who mentioned it to her tearfully, and from Kyo himself.

She had never seen Kyo's final form, but the last thing she heard before she lost consciousness was his pained roar as he transformed.

When (Y/N) woke up, she was still in her Fox form, but now she was lying on the cold dining room floor.

Sitting beside her was her mentor Shigure, staring outside with grim eyes. (Y/N) could see Yuki and Haru sitting on the other side of the doors, both looking equally grim.

It was raining. Hard, loud rain, pounding on the roof, the kind no one liked, the kind that would make you think of accidents and disasters.

Disasters. Accidents.

Kyo's roar echoed in her mind.

"Shigure-sensei," (Y/N) called, her voice raspy. The rain made her inaudible, so she spoke louder. "Honda-san. Is she alright?"

Shame bubbled up inside her as the question left her lips. Kyo wouldn't hurt Tohru. He wouldn't hurt anyone. Akito was wrong. Kyo wasn't a monster.

"(Y/N)," replied Shigure, turning his gaze towards her. "They haven't returned yet. Tohru-kun is going after Kyo."

(Y/N) felt her heart clench. It was her fault. Kyo was just trying to help her, and this was how she repaid him. By cutting his bracelet and exposing his final form against his will.

"I'm going after them," she decided, rising from the floor. It was only then she noticed that her burning fever was still there. That wouldn't stop her from going after Kyo and Tohru. "Are they in the forest-"

"(Y/N)." Shigure interrupted sharply, stopping her. "Tohru-kun may be the one for Kyo. Don't intervene. You and I... we're meant for someone else."

Akito.

Even here, his presence was still trapping her.

Kyo... I want to help you like you helped me.

"Don't intervene," Shigure repeated, looking at her with a cold intensity she had never felt from him before. "If you will..."

He didn't finish his statement, turning his gaze back to the falling rain outside.

(Y/N) slumped against the floor, defeated. Concern for Kyo and Tohru gnawed at her, but Shigure wouldn't let her leave. She had still had to try, right? Kyo was her friend, and Tohru seemed like a kind person. She had to try and help them.

Tohru-kun may be the one for Kyo. Don't intervene. You and I... we're meant for someone else.

What could that mean?
