The next day, (Y/N) was finally ready to visit Akito.

As she walked towards his quarters, her mind swirled with all the things she'd say to earn his forgiveness. He'd be furious at her, surely. She just hoped the punishment wouldn't be that bad.

Maybe he was in a good mood.

He wasn't.

The moment she walked in, she could feel his irritation rolling off him in waves. (Y/N) suspected it had something to do with Shigure's visit the night before. He was the only one who could get under Akito's skin in ways no one ever could.

"Good morning, Akito-san," she greeted, bowing her head respectfully as she sat across him. "I apologize for not having visted you in a while-"

"You have disappointed me, (Y/N)," He interrupted sharply, the harshness of his tone filling her with dread.

He looked up, glaring as she clasped her hands together nervously.

"I expected a lot from you," He continued, studying her expression with the coldness of an icicle. "And yet you have disappointed me, choosing to spend some time with them instead of visiting me."

She nodded slowly, ready to start grovelling for his forgiveness, when he spoke again.

"But I am merciful, so I'll forgive you for staying away from me."

"Thank you, Akito-san," (Y/N) said automatically, bowing low as she felt her pulse speed up. Akito would never let her go unpunished. Even though he said he'd forgive her, she was sure there was something horrible in store for her.

He smiled darkly. "But you don't mind staying here with me for a few days, don't you? Just like... the old times."

Cold air filled her lungs in a silent gasp. Images of broken teacup shards, of isolation and cutting words, of blood and darkness flashed through her head.

Stay. With Akito. This would be like willingly putting herself through a beating.

This Fox wasn't so lucky after all.

༻❁༺

It had been a few weeks.

Every opportunity he could, Akito would say these little remarks that would gnaw at what little self-esteem (Y/N) had, trying to break her down into nothing and build her up again as his loyal servant.

(Y/N) wouldn't let him.

It was harder this time. (Y/N) had been inprisoned here with Akito several times in the past, but now she wasn't his mindless follower anymore and she had a lot to lose if she let him destroy her again.
