Senpai continued to act like he usually did. He did not want to worry Lila or the kids. They already have done so much for him and he didn't want to worry him more.
When Sen escaped from the video game, instead of destroying it he kept it. It currently was hidden away in the attic of the house he used to share with Lemon.
He had no idea how he was going to get back in the game, that didn't matter right now. The only thing he needed was to get it back in the first place.
Lemon Demon could have not yet left and facing him wasn't something Sen wanted to deal with. His best option was to go on Friday night. Typically, that was when Lem went out to hunt.
On Friday, he told Lila that he finally felt like getting out. That he had plans to go back to the grocery store and get his job back. She seemed pretty convinced and let him go.
As he made his way over, he started to think about being in the game again. Most of the time he would just be in pitch blackness. But when the rare chance comes of someone playing his game, he would live every day as just a pretty high schoolboy. It was a nightmare but it was better than what was going on in the real world.
Approaching his previous house felt gut-wrenching. He became happy here once again after so many years of numbness. Now it was just another source for it.
Getting inside was easy because he still had his keys. It was dark and quiet. This didn't make Sen feel confident that Lem wasn't here.
The house was a mess. When they lived together Sen insisted that it should be kept as tidy as possible. All of the furniture was torn and pictures of them that Sen framed was destroyed. Sen wanted to look away but the mess was everywhere.
The smell of the house was also starting to affect him. It smelled of rotten flesh. The source of it became known when Sen walked into the kitchen, random pieces of half-eaten human body parts were scattered around.
It reminded Sen of how Lemon used to live before they met. When they got together Lem personally made sure to fulfill his hunger in a way that didn't digest Sen. Any business he did was in the basement and the rest of the house was kept spotless.
Sen wanted to get out of here. He hurried upstairs not bothering to check on any of their other rooms.
Making his way up to the attic, anxiety washed over him. What would Lemon Demon even do if he found him?
When he got to the room he grabbed the box he needed and pulled out various items before finding it. It was worn cartilage. Staring at it, made him shiver. His whole existence was once trapped in this tiny plastic thing. He was soon going to stay inside there again.
Before he could slip in his pocket he felt the presence of another figure watching him. Quickly turning around he found Lemon Demon.
"What do you think you're doing Senpai?"
"Lem..."
He didn't know what to feel in that moment but he knew for a fact that the greatest emotion that washed over him was happiness. He wanted to hug him. That was a dangerous thought.
"You don't belong here anymore! What are you doing here?!"
"I never got my stuff."
"What stuff?" Lem said tilting his head. His expression was hard to read. "Seriously, you come back to the place where a monster literally threatened to kill you, you really are stupid."
"I know you won't kill me."
He didn't know that fully. Sen stepped a little closer testing the waters. Lem stepped back. If Lemon really wanted to kill him, he could of before. He could of also went after him at Lila's.
