Ch 27

Avery made it out of the base. She was running when she felt pain rush through her body coming from her chest. She looked down at her chest, It was dripping with blood

Avery falls to the ground. Her vision starting to blur from the amount of blood loss

Avery crawled towards Natasha. She didn't care if she dies, she only cared that Natasha survived. She just made it to Natasha and held one of her hands when her vision went black and she passed out

Avery's eyes slowly opened when a bright light hit her face

Her vision was still a bit blurry

After a few minutes, her vision mostly returned to normal. She looked around the room she was in. It was a hospital room and Avery started to freak out. She had never been in a hospital before because of the trauma behind the red room hospital Where they sterilized her. So she hadn't stepped foot in a hospital for around 19 years excluding the day Alexei was born

All of a sudden a machine starts beeping and what seemed to be doctors or nurses rushed in. One of the nurses grabbed what seemed to be a shot And gave it to Avery. A few moments later Avery passed out again

Avery wakes up again

She groans and then opens her eyes. She looks around again and sees Wanda this time sitting next to the bed

Avery: "w-Wanda?"

Wanda: "hey"

Avery:" w-what w-"

Wanda: "Hey hey hey calm down. Calm down Avery"

Avery: "what's going on?!"

Wanda: "you are getting treated at the hospital, everything is okay"

Avery: "where is Natalia?"

Wanda: "Nat is in another room next door" 

Avery: "Wanda what happened?"

Wanda: "well you've been in a coma for a month after what happened" 

Avery: "what?!"

Wanda: "once you guys were taken to a new location we worked to track you and Nat. Days later when we did we were landing when we saw you running with Nat in your arms. Then you got shot in the chest and leg. By the time we were able to get out of the quinjet you passed out. We rushed you both here"

Avery: "how is Natalia?"

Wanda: "she's still in a coma"

Avery digs her face into her hands

Avery: "This is all my fault"

Wanda: "hey calm down, calm down. If your heart rate goes up they are going to have to sedate you again. I know you don't like hospitals by it I promise you you are safe here. We have shield agents all around and all the doctors and nurses have been through background checks."

Avery tries moving but pain shoots through her body

Avery: "f*ck

She looks down at her right arm which was in a cast

Avery: "I thought I just got shot"

Wanda shakes her head

Wanda: "you and Nat had a lot of injuries not just getting shot or stabbed"

Avery: "well that's f*cking great"

She groans in pain

Avery: "Wanda where is Alexei?"

Wanda: "right now he's with Bucky and Steve at the compound. He's been staying with carol and I- i mean he's been staying with me for the past month. He's really missed you both"

Avery digs her face into her hands again

Avery: "This is all my fault. It's my fault Alexei got taken and I was the one who almost killed Natalia... I'm such a bad wife and a bad mom"

There is a knock on the door and the door opens

Carol: "hey wands is she awa- hey Avery. How are you feeling?"

Avery: "like sh*t and a bunch of other things

Carol sits next to Wanda

Avery: "how is Natalia. Wanda said she's in a coma"

Carol: "she's a bit better. They still don't know when she is going to wake up though"

Avery starts to cry. Carol and Wanda look at each other not knowing what to do
