A couple of months have passed
Nat: "Alexei has a letter? Who is it from?"
She reads the name on the stamp
Nat: "Kendall morgan? I don't know a Kendall morgan..."
Alexei runs into the room
Alexei: "good morning mommy"
Nat: "good morning Alexei, happy birthday"
She kisses the top of his head
Nat: "i know i haven't asked you but what do you want for your birthday"
Alexei: "i want mommy to come back home from her mission. I really miss her, that's all i want for my birthday"
(nat)I haven't been honest with Alexei on where Avery is. I told him that she went on a special mission and she wouldn't be back home for a couple of months. If I told him that Avery may not come back for a year or two, or at all, it would crush him. So i had to twisty the truth so i wouldn't hurt him
Nat: "I know Alexei but i can't do anything about it. I'm sorry. You have a letter, do you need help reading it"
Alexei shakes his head
Alexei: "i can read it"
He opens the letter and it was a birthday card
In the card it read
Dear Alexei. Happy birthday to my crazy little monster. I can't believe you are now 8 years old. Wow, I cant believe it's been 8 years. I'm sorry I'm not there with you celebrating your birthday with you. I promise you that I will be home soon. Just know i love you and miss you.
Love mom
Alexei: "its a card from mommy!
Nat: "really, let me see"
Alexei hands the card to Natasha and she reads it
Nat: "h-how?
Alexei: "what's wrong mommy?"
Nat: "nothing Alexei, come on lets go get breakfast, and then we can do something fun"
A year later
Alexei received another card from Avery just like the year prior
A couple of months later, it's now been 2 years since Avery went through the process
Kendall: "3...2...1... chamber is opening"
She presses a button on a tablet and the chamber opens
Avery slowly opens her eyes
Jemma: "Avery?"
Avery blinks for a bit trying to adjust to the light in the room
Jemma helps Avery out of the chamber and onto a chair
Kendall: "how are you feeling?"
Avery: "still trying to adjust to the light in the room"
She coughs
Avery: "can i get water please"
Jemma: "Here"
She hands Avery a water bottle
10 minutes Later
Jemma: "when you are ready Avery tell us when you want us to say the words"
Avery: "give me like 10 minutes, please"
Kendall and Jemma nod
Avery: "K"
Kendall: "yes Avery?"
Avery: "did you mail the cards to Alexei for his birthday"
Kendall nods
Kendall: "yes i did"
Avery: "thank you"
Jemma Kendall and Avery talk for a bit
Avery: "I'm ready to try it"
Kendall: "alright lets start"
Jemma hands kendall a tablet with Avery's trigger words on it
Kendall: "Желание... Ржавый... Семнадцать... Рассвет... Печь... Девять... Добросердечный... Возвращение на Родину... Один...... Товарный вагон."
Nothing happened
Avery: "nothing happened... it worked"
Jemma: "reading test results. 100% successes"
Kendall: "you are now officially winter soldier free"
Avery; "thank you both so much"
She hugs Kendall and Jemma
Jemma: "the only thing that is left is for you to take these pill for the next month and then all of this will be gone forever"
Avery: "thank god. I'm sorry for asking but can we get food please"
The three of them laugh
Kendall: "come on lets go get some food"
