Keeley missed the prison.
She missed the happy memories she made there with Judith and Carl. She missed the way Beth would lay in the field with her in the middle of the night just watching the stars and Keeley missed the way Jay greeted her every morning with that stupid smirk on his face.
It was a place where she found comfort, felt safe.
But it was also a place filled with death and darkness. It was filled with memories of the people they had lost: her mother, Hershel, Karen, Molly, and everyone who was sick.
But it was her home... And it was taken from her in an instant.
Right now Keeley sat in front of a small campfire, trying to make the flames bigger with the dead leaves and twigs that she could find around her.
She heard footsteps but didn't raise her weapon, immediately recognizing them as her father's. "How hungry are you, scale of 1 to 10?" Rick asked the three individuals in front of him as he warmed a can over the small fire.
"15." Carl claimed while Keeley held up ten fingers, "Plus one." She added with a weak smile.
He looked to Michonne who answered with a serious expression, "28."
"Yeah, well it's been a while. I'm gonna go check the snares, " Rick announced as he stood up. Carl looked up at him, "Can I come?"
Rick gave Carl a tiny smirk, "Well, how else are you going to learn?"
The two shared a smile before Rick started kicking dirt into the fire to put it out and Carl joined him. "Come on," he spoke. "You two come with." Keeley internally sighed as she grabbed her bag while Michonne picked up her sword.
"We'll stay another day or two. Get some more rest." Rick declared as the group came started walking down a path.
"You finished healing up?" Michonne asked him.
"I'm almost there. Keeley did her best with what we had left." He said assuring her. "I try, " Keeley said with a shrug of her shoulders.
"We're close now, right?" Carl asked and Keeley swore she could hear a hint of excitement in his voice and the thought of him being excited, happy again after everything they've been through the last couple of weeks brought a smile to her face.
