Water is a no

"A swamp planet," Obi-Wan read, his disgust poorly hidden.

"At least they sent Senator Binks with the 501st," Cody sighed.

Obi-Wan looked over his datapad to look at Cody, his eyes showing his amusement, "now, Cody, I know you don't have very high opinions of Senator Binks, but we must not let it get in the way of the 212th's perfect professionalism."

"He is a liability, and you end up covered in bacta by the end of any mission with him," Cody pointed out, "I can act professionally around him, but my patience does not stretch further than that."

"I guess we can work with that," Obi-Wan chuckled.

-----

Obi-Wan was thankful that the pilots managed to find dry land. He hoped to avoid going in the swampy areas as much as possible and for as long as possible.

"General, we have to go through the swamp to get to the palace from our current location."

'Ah, there went that hope.' Obi-Wan sighed, nodding over to Waxer. "We'll try and keep out of it the most we can."

"We have to go through the centre. Otherwise, it adds on an extra three days, even though we'll be in the swamp less."

'And this day is getting better and better.' Obi-Wan sighed again before nodding. "Very well, prepare the men."

"Yes, sir."

It was a slow walk; the men dreaded the swamp the exact amount that Obi-Wan did. The swamp almost looked never-ending as they approached it.

"How long will we be in the swamp?" Cody asked.

"Just under a day," Waxer sighed.

Cody bit back his groan. "Well, best get started."

-----

Obi-Wan eyed the water with uneasy eyes.

"You alright, sir?" Cody asked, moving next to Obi-Wan.

"Just, a little uneased," Obi-Wan stated, his body rebelling against him as he went to take a step forwards.

"Are you sure," Cody asked again, watching as Obi-Wan was unable to step towards the water.

"I do believe the instincts are those of a Tooka who is not fond of water," Obi-Wan sighed.

Cody whistled over to Waxer, bringing the man over as he flashed a few explanatory signs over at him. Shrugging off his rucksack, he passed it over to Waxer before sending the vod back off. He watched as the troopers continued through the swamp.

Obi-Wan watched Cody hand over his bag before crouching in front of him with his back facing him. "Wha-"

"Sir, we have to get through the swamp," Cody stated, "and we do not have enough time to train your instincts for water. So, this will be the best way forward."

"Are you sure?"

"A trooper can easily carry your weight; someone of the Commander designation can move with twice as much," Cody stated.

Obi-Wan sighed, "very well."

Cody waited before getting back to his feet, holding Obi-Wan's legs securely. "Ready?"

"As I'll ever be."

-----

Cody knew from the moment that they caught up with the troopers that they took plenty of holos. He could feel their looks through their helmets and could not help but sigh under his.

"Everything ok?" Obi-Wan asked, hearing the sigh.

"Just thinking about how much this will cost to stop the holos from circling," Cody sighed.

"Let the men have some fun," Obi-Wan laughed, "this isn't a usual situation after all."

-----

"You alright, Obi-Wan?" Anakin asked as he watched the man step off his Commander's back onto the ground.

"The instincts decided that I am not meant to go near a body of water; it seems that swamps are included within that," Obi-Wan shrugged, "there wasn't enough time to get the instincts under control, so Cody offered that as a solution."

Cody ignored the look Rex was giving him.

"Well, it seemed to have worked," Anakin chucked.

-----

"What's this?" Obi-Wan asked as Cody passed him a box.

Cody grinned, sitting down on his side of the desk, "the solution to the water issue."

Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow but opened the box, "are these–"

"I had a set of waders commissioned; that way, you'll be able to stay dry, even walking through a deep swamp," Cody explained, "you'll probably have to fight your instincts at first, but hopefully, they'll get used to it."

"That's very thoughtful, Cody, thank you," Obi-Wan smiled, nodding his head.

-----

Cody sighed and grabbed Obi-Wan by the arm. He slowly walked backwards, pulling Obi-Wan into the water.

Obi-Wan could feel his instincts screaming until suddenly they calmed, realising that they were not getting wet.

"Is it working?" Cody asked, loosening his grip on Obi-Wan.

"Seems to be, the instincts have calmed, somewhat," Obi-Wan agreed.

Cody sighed, letting go of Obi-Wan's arm. "See whether you can walk and move around by yourself."

Obi-Wan nodded, steeling himself before working on moving forwards. It was slow work, as the instincts seemed to fire back up to their aggravated mode, but they almost reluctantly calmed again as they noticed that he still wasn't getting wet.

Cody watched as Obi-Wan continued to walk around, seeing the water slowly raise higher up the man's legs. However, he did forget the man's luck as he soon found the drop-off.
He leapt forwards, dragging the disgruntled Jedi to the shore. Obi-Wan looked even more disgruntled as his hair was plastered to him and the waders filled with water. "I think you found the drop-off."

"No kidding," Obi-Wan muttered, frowning as everything squelched as he shifted.

"Well, the waders will have to come off. Otherwise, you will struggle to move," Cody sighed.

"Then, let's get to it."

What seemed like half the lake fell out the waders when they were up-turned.
