Cody groaned as his comm started blaring during his sleep cycle. He reached over, grabbing it to see who wanted to go out of an airlock.
It was his batch chat, Fox ringing.

Sitting up, he sighed before activating the comm. "What do you want?"

"Well, you're grumpy," Fox said.

"I'm on my way back from a campaign, sleeping when you decided to comm," Cody growled.

"Why did you ring?" Wolfie asked.

"I was also sleeping," Rex muttered.

"We will all be on Coruscant soon, and it's about time that I beat you all in a race," Fox said.

Cody grinned silently as the rest of the squad broke into groans.

-----

"Kote'ika's late," Wolfie said.

"Again, as always," Fox grinned.

"You can not blame him for having issues getting to the planet on time," Bly said, "not like he's able to speed up a venator."

"Some of us actually fight," Rex said, looking over at Fox, "and not be looked at like some fancy tooka."

Fox raised an eyebrow, "now, don't talk about Kote like that." He chuckled, "he's still getting his furr in a twist about it."

"I'd say you're the one with their furr in a twist; after all, Alpha always call you the lap tooka. Isn't that right, Kitty?"
Cody smirked as Fox startled, easily grabbing the fist thrown his way.

Fox grunted as he was thrown to the floor, arm pinned behind his back.

"That was sloppy," Cody chuckled. He let go of his ori'vod's wrist, stepping away from him.

"Kote, what the kriff was that? You threw him over your shoulder like it was nothing," Wolfie questioned.

"Just making sure Fox knew he hadn't lost his title," Cody said, lip-twitching as  Fox frowned. "After all, that is how you named yourself, wasn't it, Fox?"

Fox glared at his vod'ika before retorting, "at least I named myself."

"I do believe earning and getting gifted a name is a high merit. Especially when the Prime gave the name," Cody pointed out, watching as Fox looked away with a huff. "But are we here to race or talk about me?"

"Someone's eager," Wolfie noted.

"I just want to get this out of the way," Cody said, "I know what's going to happen."

"Yeah, I'm going to win!" Fox smirked.

Cody allowed his smirk to start to appear.

-----

Cody shifted until he was in the ready position, watching as his vode did the same.

"On your marks," Thorn said, watching as the batch shifted, "get set, run!"

Cody launched forwards, only keeping pace just short of Fox. He sped up slightly, smirking over at Fox before putting more effort in, effortlessly flying by the vod and clearing the line with space behind him.

Fox skidded across the line.

"What's wrong, Fox? You're normally the fastest," Cody asked, putting on a fake face of concern, "bad start? Did you get hurt hitting the floor?"

"I want to do that again!"

"Kriff that," Wolfie growled, Bly and Rex nodding behind him, "I have better things to be doing."

"Fine then, you and me?" Fox asked, looking over at Cody, "scared you're going to lose, Kote'ika?"

Cody smirked, "I believe I should be asking the same of you."

Fox huffed, "you've never won since you were a tiny cadet."

-----

"On your marks," Thorn said, watching as the two Commanders' shifted into position.

Cody shifted, compressing himself so he could put his full force down into the launch.

"Get set!"

He looked over at Fox, seeing that the man had a smirk on his face. Cody shifted further, making sure his entire focus was on the run.

"Race!"

Cody launched himself forwards, reacting quicker than Fox. He kept his head on the run, putting as much into it as possible.
He quickly went across the line, skidding to a stop. He waited, watching as Fox eventually made it to the line. "Something wrong?" He grinned.

"What the kriff was that?!"

"Like some kriffing Jetii!"

Cody faked a frown at Wolfie and Rex. "I was just running like normal."

"Normal, my shebs!" Fox exclaimed, "nothing about that was normal!"

Bly frowned, "you held back."

"What?"
Everyone turned to look over at Bly in confusion.

"You held back in the first race," Bly explained, "that second time, you were a lot faster. You knew that you could beat Fox."

Cody shrugged, "something I figured out a couple of weeks ago. I believe due to the flexibility of a Tooka."

"Tooka's flexibility does help; it causes them to be able to sprint extremely fast, almost staying off the ground the entire time!" Book piped in.

Cody smirked, answering with a smirk, "a few good things came with being turned into a Tooka."

Apologies for the late part, I got stuck in some writers block that was entirely my creation. I'd wrote this part wrong and even published it. Subconsciously knowing it was wrong, I wasn't able to do any more parts until it was fixed. I hope you enjoyed this part. Thanks.

You've reached the end of published parts.
