"It's officially summer, y'all already know what that means, right?" Pastor Scott shouted from where he's standing. We all yelled back at him "YAS" "YAS" "YAS time" and then all we laughed. "That's right" Pastor Scott added.
Every summer, our Youth Pastor -Pastor Scott- hosts the Young Adult Summit, YAS, for short. It's a 2 week long summit where all the young adults in our church and sometimes other nearby churches get together and spend time together. We have various speakers and teachers talk about 5 main topics: Apologetics, Theology, Evangelism, Relationships, Financial Literacy. These topics aren't the only things we talk about, we are allowed to walk around the place and town that we're visiting, we also go on dates and meet people as long as we don't come back too late. Among us we talk about our lives as Christians, life as young adults and our jobs and schools. I love a good fellowship and that's why I look forward to YAS.
"You guys know the drill, most of you know what YAS usually looks like and it's the same format, there isn't much change this year. Only it gets better evey year..." We cheered at that.
"We will announce the date on Sunday but get ready guys because it'll be sooner than you think. We've been talking about it since last summer when we were on our way back from YAS. Remember?" He chuckles "if this year will be your first time get ready to have fun and grow as a Christian. That's all, let's pray so you can go home."
