It was a little past midnight, Valice was, for the first time, asleep In her bed, Rose, on the other hand, tried to keep her voice down every time she cussed when she hit something. She was carefully stalking the dark hallways and she was about seventy percent sure that she had rounded this floor three or four times now. If looking for the door to Valice's office was this hard, she was thankful that she had been too lazy—and mostly scared—to go to the dining floor to get some water, she figured Valice spent half of his day In there, so he had to have at least—If not water, a bottle of sprite or something.
She realized that the cause of her topsy-turvy directional senses, was mainly her half-sleepy state, so she paused for a while to try to wake herself up. After some minutes of humming Christian hymns to redirect her train of thought from wondering what things laid In the darkness, she started her journey again, this time moving closer to the door to at least try to distinguish his office door from the rest of the very much Identical others.
She sighed In relief when she quietly pushed open a door and could make out the large swivel chair In the darkness, she walked In and shut the door behind her, she had learned on her first day here, of how the door closed with little to no sound, so she wasn't worried.
Rose had been prepared to settle for a bottle of sprite, but the large cabinetry filled with bottles of different forms of alcohol didn't amuse her sandy throat. She made a mental promise that she would put a bottle of water by her bedside table, In case of any night either she or Valice would be feeling funky.
Her eyes literally lit up when she spotted a fridge at the far corner of the room, she walked to It quickly and thanked Valice mentally for always filling up his fridge with water, she pulled one out and went over to his chair to take a seat and enjoy her trophy.
She threw the empty plastic In the bin and just because the Internet says so, she went for another bottle to hydrate herself properly, this one, however, she sipped slowly. Her brain had calmed down a bit and she now paid full attention to her surrounding, scanning the office was hard at the time since It was dark, Rose still managed.
Just like any other person would, she went for the drawers, and luckily for her, they were open. There were just papers stacked to the brim and Rose's head hurt from how much Ink she was straining her eyes to see, she quickly shut It and moved to the second one.
She pulled It open and a gun was the first thing she saw, at this point she wasn't that surprised, In the drawer too was a phone, his phone,
Maybe she could dial 999 or 911 really quick?
But what good will come out of It? She had seen firsthand how little the authorities back home wanted anything to do with Valice, so If anyone heard where she was or who she was with, they would probably cut off the line. With this realization, She was happy at least that she wasn't being tortured or forced Into labor, so authorities could take their sweet time because she also had to find out what Valice's 'business was, she didn't buy the shit Valice had said the other day.
A shrill sound tore the calm night apart and Rose jumped Involuntarily, she recognized Valice's ringtone, she hated It, It made her wonder why he that was supposed to be a stealthy gang leader or anyone of that sort, had the noisiest ringtone she had ever heard.
She worked out shaking her head at Valice In her head wasn't going to help that the ringing still continued and must have woken him up by now, so she snatched the drawer open and took It, first silencing It before looking at the number, no name, just a number.
"Hello?" she heard a man say with a slightly annoyed tone. She stilled and her eyes zeroed on the counting timer on the call screen, how?! Had she answered the call Instead of silencing It?! How did this phone even work, she always silenced calls with the home button on her phone, was this one any different?! Or maybe she had pressed the green button by mistake! She literally threw her head back In frustration and palmed her forehead with one hand, the other hand holding the phone like It was a virus. She had managed to find a door amongst other Identical doors In blanket darkness, but couldn't silence a call properly on a device that shone blinding light.
