I don't remember getting to the hospital; I don't remember much to be honest. The only thing on my mind was Armand and I was praying all these horrible scenarios making their way through my mind were just me being paranoid.
As I walked inside the hospital, I went straight to the lady behind the desk, trying my best to keep myself composed and not start yelling for answers to questions I didn't really imagined ever asking. But before I could ask, a hand on my shoulder made me turn around.
"We're all waiting this way." Seth looked like he had been the one in an accident. Hair was all messy, not the cute or sexy messy, but the one that says 'I've been running my hands through it all day from how worried I am' kind of messy. Clothes were wrinkled and I wonder exactly how much time had passed when they decided to call me. Had it happened as soon as I left him? Was it because I didn't leave his car?
"Seth," I asked as I walked beside him. "What exactly happened? How is he?"
He ran a hand down his face before answering me.
"According to Steve, Armand refused to ride with him and left on the bike to work. He was in a rush and Steve lost him in the traffic. The driver that got hit said Armand tried to avoid running over a woman crossing the street at the wrong time and he lost control of the bike and crashed into this guy's car." Seth sighed, shaking his head. "He's not pressing charges as long as we pay him for the damage."
"How's Armand, Seth?" I pressed. We were nearing where the waiting area was and he still hadn't told me how Armand was.
"We don't know. They haven't told us anything. Just a nurse came out saying everything was going to be alright but she didn't elaborate and we're all kind of losing our minds."
The nurse said everything would be fine, that meant he is fine right? He's going to be alright.
I have to keep believing that or I might just go crazy.
"Darcy," I was brought back from my thoughts by Seth's voice. I looked at him. "These are Maeve and Jackson, my parents. Ma, Pops, this is Darcy, Armand's girlfriend."
They were Armand's grandparents, the people who raised him and Seth. This was really not how I pictured meeting them.
Maeve sat straight, platinum hair swept up in a small bun, expression hard as she gave me the once over. Jackson was no different in the way he looked at me. His white hair was pulled back in a tiny pony tail, lean body stretching as he stood up and put out a hand to help Maeve up.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, even though the circumstances aren't what I had imagined." I stretched my hand to shake theirs and for a second I thought neither would do it. They kept staring and I felt very self conscious. A relieved sigh left me as they finally nodded and shook my hand.
"We've heard a bit of you through Armand. I hope we can get to know each other better." Maeve said and she still had that calculating look in those green eyes of hers.
"Of-"
"Darce! Oh my God! I came as soon as I could!" Jenny's voice interrupted mine and I looked over with a frown as she neared me and hugged with a tight force.
"What are you doing here?"
"You sent me a text, silly." She pulled back rolling her eyes. I don't remember doing that. "Aren't you going to introduce me?"
"Right. Seth is Armand's friend," I motioned to Seth, not really sure if he preferred to be introduced as a brother or not, "Maeve and Jackson, Armand's parents."
"Hi, I'm Jenny!" she waved excitedly and I couldn't comprehend what was there to be excited about.
"Darcy, thank God you're here." Nina came quickly to my side after giving Maeve and Jackson cups of coffee, I assumed, then proceeded to engulf me in a tight embrace and I broke down again.
