For centuries, humankind has used the stars. Whether it be for navigating across unfamiliar oceans, for preserving myths and legends of great heroes who were bestowed a spot in the heavens by the gods, or marking the change from winter to spring, the stars are interwoven into the stories of humanity.
But for Charlotte Kohler, the stars meant her father. After her mother falls ill and sends her away, Charlotte packs a few possessions, including her late father's beloved telescope, and travels to live with her cousins in Concord, Massachusetts. She expects a quiet and uneventful stay, but when she gets there, she has anything but.
"My tongue will tell the anger of my heart, or else my heart concealing it will break."
― William Shakespeare"Moonlight drowns out all but the brightest stars."
― J.R.R. Tolkien"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else, is the greatest accomplishment."
― Ralph Waldo Emerson"Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven,
Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels."
― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow"Yours is the light by which my spirit's born: –you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars."
