THALIA'S POV

Thorin ordered a stone wall to be built from the debris of crushed rocks to cover the entrance of the Mountain. I watched all 13 dwarves struggle to lift the heavy boulders up with pulleys and wheelbarrow the small rocks to the base. I wanted to help, but Thorin stopped me and kept me by his side.

"Come with me." he breathed. His eyes had bags under them, and he slumped with a limp in his right leg. Once in awhile, he would wobble and I would have to support him.

"Thalia," Thorin whimpered. He was shaking. "What has happened to me?" I blinked at the question. "I'm sorry, Thorin. I don't understand."

"I call for the King Under the Mountain, Thorin!" I heard Bard's voice from the entrance. My body lightened up and I forgot all about Thorin as I ran to the entrance.

"Bard!" I called, but then felt Thorin's hand on my mouth. Then, he pushed me aside, where thankfully Kili stood and caught me. "You ok?" he asked, holding me in his arms. I nodded, and took his hands in mine. "I'm fine, I promise. I'm worried about Thorin." We both looked over as Thorin spoke to Bard through the stone wall.

Thorin refused Bard's offer of peace and I watched as Bard stomped away in frustration. This can't be happening, I thought. Bilbo walked up behind me and placed a hand on my shoulder. He had a worried look on his face.

Later that night, we all laid asleep, except me of course. I stared up at the dark stone ceiling thinking of what was going to happen in the future. My answer was clear right then and there when I spotted Bilbo sneaking out of the room.

I slipped out of my blankets and followed him quietly. I watched as he threw a long piece of rope over the edge and tightened the end to a rock. "Bilbo...what are you doing?" I whispered, which startled him. "Thalia? You shouldn't be here?"

"What are you doing?" I asked again. Bilbo didn't answer at first, then sighed. "I need to know what's going on on Bard's side. I'm going to the ruins of Dale to speak with him."

"I'll come with you." I said, but Bilbo grabbed me before I could make a move. "No! I need to go alone." he said, sternly, which shocked me a little. I just nodded, too scared to say anything.

Bilbo must've noticed my scared look, because he pulled me into his arms and didn't let go for awhile. "I promise, everything will make sense soon. I have a plan, and I plan to make it happen." I nodded in understandment.

"Be safe." I said, and I kissed him on the cheek. I watched as he climbed down the stone wall and sprinted across the desert plain to the ruins of Dale.

"I hope you know what you're doing, Bilbo." I said out loud. "Be careful on your actions. For everything from now depends on it."
