THALIA'S POV

"What the hell is that?" I pointed to the monstrous bear-like creature. Bilbo stared with me with wide eyes.

"I don't know," Bilbo whispered. "But we need to get of here. Come on, let's go warn the others."

BILBO'S POV

I grabbed Thalia's hand and we made a run for it. Gandalf led the way through the woods. Suddenly, a monstrous roar came from the other side of the hill.

"Quickly now!" Gandalf shouted, and we ran on. Soon, we were on an open field. "Faster, faster" Thalia kept breathing to herself. "We're almost there!" She began to sprint faster, pulling me along. "Come on, Bilbo! Bombur is passing you for crying out loud!"

The dwarves struggled to push the gigantic doors open. Thalia and Thorin pushed through and Thorin lifted Thalia to where she can unlatch the door. The door bursted open and the company rushed inside, and just in time, too.

"What the hell is that!" I tried to breathe after running so hard.

"That is our host." Gandalf answered. Everyone got quiet and turned to Gandalf with a "what?" look. "He's a skin changer." Gandalf explained. "But he's not overfond with dwarves."

Oh well that sucks to them, I thought. I turned to Thalia, who seemed to be in perfect shape, for she wasn't breathing hard like the rest of us.

"So," she said. "Do we just wait until he gets here?" Gandalf nodded. Then, she shrugged and sat down against the wall. "So I guess we wait." I repeated. Then, I sat next to her.

She leaned herself towards me and snuggled her head on my shoulder. She fell asleep immediately. She didn't look like it, but she was exhausted. I squeezed my arm around her and pulled her close. I remembered doing this while watching sunsets with her. How could I have forget?

I planted a kiss on top of her head and then placed my cheek upon it and closed my eyes.

THALIA'S POV

"Rise and shine!" I poked Bilbo's face. "Come on! You'll miss breakfast." Bilbo opened his eyes and shrieked. "Why are you so close to my face! You scared me!"

"Sorry, I just thought you would want to eat before the dwarves eat all the food." I said. Then, I got up and joined the company.

"This is very delicious, Beorn." I commented. "It's been awhile since I've had such yummy food."

"Hey!" Bofur said with a mouth full of food. Everyone laughed. Man, things are really lively here. It was hard to think that after all thats happen so far into this adventure.

I gazed over at Bilbo who was also laughing. I smiled. I haven't seen him laugh in over 18 years. It brought back so many memories, and I had to bite my lip to keep myself from crying.

BILBO'S POV

"Time to go!" Thorin called, as he hoisted himself onto the pony. "We need to hurry to Mirkwood Forest." I saddled myself onto my pony and looked for Thalia. Then, I saw her sitting behind Kili on his horse. She had her arms wrapped around his torso and had that amazing smile on her face. And no, I wasn't jealous.

We rode forever it seemed; only to stop once. When we finally made it, it sent chills down my spine.

"Well this place looks promising." Thalia commented, as I watched Kili help her down in his arms. I looked away quickly and made my way to Gandalf, who was going in the opposite direction.

"Wait," I said. "You're not leaving us, are you?" Gandalf stopped and looked down on me. "I wouldn't unless I really had to. And in this case, I have to." I watched him as he left. Great, I thought. We're screwed.

Thalia came up next to me. She faced the dark forest's entrance with a mischievous grin.

"Well, this adventure has just gotten interesting." she laughed. "Shall we go on?" And as to answer her own question, she took the first step into Mirkwood.
