"I want him," Megan Jackson said to her best friend, Bella, as she stared at her other friend, Melissa, had a conversation with her longtime crush.

"Who?" said Bella glancing around everywhere frantically.

"Jake," Megan said with a long sigh after saying his "oh so perfect name"- as stated many times by Megan herself.

"You still have a thing for Montgomery? Give it a rest," Bella said with a hint of a laugh at the end of the sentence.

Megan rolled her eyes and felt a little disrespect forming in the pit of her stomach, "Just because you have 'World's Most Perfect Boyfriend', does not mean you can go around lowering people's self esteem."

Bella threw her hands up in surrender to that comment. She wanted to laugh, but didn't because the last thing she wanted was to be yelled at again.

Bella observed the way Megan stared at Jake and thought of the way she used to stare at her boyfriend, Nate Kyle. No matter what she said aloud, Bella always knew Megan belonged with Jake. Her hands fit perfectly in his and the way their chemistry just clicked was a sure sign of their foreseeable everlasting love.

"Do you think he likes anyone, Bell?" Megan asked, breaking Bella's thought.

"Huh?" she started. "Oh Jake, again. I'm pretty sure he likes Maria."

Megan's heart stopped. It felt like Jake personally ripped her heart out of it's position and handed it over to Maria with a red bow and wrapping paper. She felt tears form behind her eyes but quickly shook them away, not wanting to cause another one of her famous dramatic scenes at Melissa's party.

She nodded, "Okay. Well I hope he gets what he wants." And with that, Megan walked off at a quick pace while wiping the tears off of her face.
