I feel someone
holding my hand
I'm supposed to be dead
I shouldn't feel anything
I open my eyes wider
a hospital bed
an iv in my arm
emily by my side
her eyes are puffy and red
she sniffles
trace? trace!
she hugs me
I should never have left.
it's all my fault
I'm so sorry, trace
I stop her
it's not your fault
it's the voices
she sniffles again
she shakes her head
but I could have helped you
I should have helped you
I put my hand over hers
emily
I love you
and I want you
to love me
but to do that
you have to know
that none of this will ever be your fault
it's just the voices
and hopefully,
they will be gone forever if you say you love me too
tears are streaming down her red cheeks
she smiles
I love you too
and the voices will leave
or they will be sorry
I smile back
