{4 YEARS LATER}
sparkling diamonds on her left hand
black suit and tie on me
tears in the eyes of the crowd before us
you may now kiss the bride
we both look each other in the eyes
and lean forward
our lips meet
soft
delicate
sweet
tasting of peppermint and cherry lip gloss
the crowd claps
we pull apart
I love you emily, I say
I love you trace, she says
thank you.
for saving me, I say
she says, touché
and smiles again
I return her smile
and we kiss again
we haven't heard the voices in four and a half years
and we won't ever hear them again
as long as we're together
we will be able to breathe
