I was sitting on the couch in the common room, the one in front of the fireplace. I tried to focus on the astronomy work that was spread across the table in front of me, but the chill that ran through my body became a distraction.
'So much for a fireplace. I mean, what's the point of it if it can't warm up a dungeon?'
Not to be deterred from my homework, I summoned my jumper. I would have just gone to my room but I can never get things done in there, especially with my bed tempting me to a nap. It took me a moment but I got refocused on the work. Going back and forth between the text book and the map I was currently creating, I paused realizing I calculated incorrectly and put a whole constellation in the wrong spot. I groaned, heavily, and got a new piece of parchment to start over. My attention just went back to my book when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I heard nothing but I felt the couch dip besides me. I frowned but didn't look away from what I was doing. I heard someone clear their throat.
'I'm kind of busy right now?! I mean is all of my homework suddenly invisible?'
"Can I help you?" I still hadn't looked up from the parchment, I couldn't handle making another mistake. I have little patience.
"Actually, yes." I froze when I recognized the voice.
'No way. Is he actually asking for help?'
I set my stuff down to turn and focus on the voice. There he was, THE Draco Malfoy. He was looking everywhere but actually at me, his eyes manly on the textbook or fireplace. It was the end of the day so his white hair had started falling out of place. I couldn't figure out the look on the thirteen year olds face.
"What can I help you with?" I asked, not fully believing that he's actually coming to me for help.
He said nothing but handed me a letter. I looked at it in his hands for a second then back to his face. Nothing changed, he still had the same look. I just took it since it seemed like he didn't know what was in it anyways. As I had it, I immediately recognized the crest in the wax stamp. I only know it because it's on display next to my family crest. Each pureblood crest has been on display in many places my parents have forced me too. I've seen them at the Ministry, different balls and galas, even in some shops down diagonal alley. I opened the letter.
'To Y/n Y/l/n,
The Malfoy family formally requests your assistance with our dearest son, Draco. We have come to understand your high achievements at Hogwarts and recognize that you would be of great help. Unfortunately, he is not passing some of his courses and we would like to know if you would be gracious enough as to accept our request to be Draco's tutor. If you do accept, the tutoring WILL occur here at the Manor and will proceed effectively immediately at the time of acceptance. Either reply to this letter, or Draco will let us know of your decision.
Best Regards,
Lucius Malfoy.'I sighed as I read the last sentence of the letter. I'm glad they recognize my achievements and they seem to approve of them as well as me.
'Being a tutor would look great on applications to the ministry. It also gives me something to do during my free time. Why does he need me to go to the manor? I mean we have the entire school's library as well as professors if we need outside help.'
I looked up to see that Draco was staring intensely at me, making me shift in my seat.
"I have one question." He made eye contact with me. "Will we being going to the Manor daily after classes?"
