~Narcissa POV~

As Lucius left the library, I felt as if I could finally breathe. He was off to do something for the Ministry, at least that's what he said. What could he possibly have to do for the Ministry at 6 p.m.? I closed the book that was in my lap and sat back against the armchair I was sitting in. I took a couple minutes to myself, embracing the fact I can let my guard down even if it's only for the time Lucius is away.

I was allowing myself to get lost in my thoughts when I heard some noises coming from the corridor. I smiled when I remembered that it was Draco and Y/n. I decided I'd go see what they were up to. I was only a few feet from the library when the muffled noises turned into defined laughter. As I got closer to the kitchen it got louder.

'It's sound like they're having way too much fun for doing homework. What could they possibly be doing?'

I put on a straight face as I turned into the doorway of the kitchen. I found myself having difficulty hiding my smile when I saw Draco and Y/n covered in flour and laughing. I don't recall the last time I've heard Draco laugh so hard. He started holding his stomach when he turned to Y/n.

Y/n was laughing just as hard as Draco. Her Y/h/c hair was loose on her shoulders with flour almost hiding the colour. Her smile was so bright and I loved the sight of it.

I mentally shook that thought from my head, it shouldn't have occurred to begin with. I cleared my throat to make my presence known, I was still wondering how homework could be so fun. It was amusing seeing them both snap straight and become so serious so quickly. I felt a bit guilty when both of their smiles faded.

"What's going on in here?" I spoke, I tried to make it clear that I wasn't angry with them.

"Cookies?" Y/n answered, she said it so softly and innocent I thought it was precious.

"Cookies? What about your homework?" I turned to ask Draco.

"I finished it." He answered.

"I wanted to show him an example of an ingredient change, and the only fun way I could think of was baking. It was my idea, don't be upset with him." She quickly added as Draco finished speaking.

It was fairly interesting to see her connections with fun and education, I would've never thought to use baking as an exciting and useful example of ingredient changes.

"Upset? I'm not upset? I'm just wondering how homework could be so fun, but then I came in and saw the flour." I said, I noticed draco visibly relax and I realized he was afraid of my reaction.

I dropped my serious demeanor to show I was okay with what they were doing, they're only baking. Or they were at least attempting to. I was confused when I saw Y/n's face drop when I uncrossed my arms, I thought she'd be glad to know I wasn't upset.

"Draco, could you go to your room and get a change of clothes? I'll clean up here in the kitchen." Y/n turned to Draco.

"But the cookies?" He was confused, but so was I.

"Well, the ingredients for them are everywhere so they probably won't come out right, but we can have some when we get back to Hogwarts." She said in response.

"But, we just started?" Draco seemed sad and I see why he was disappointed.

"Draco! Go." She nearly snapped. Her attitude completely shifted and I was kind of surprised by it.

Draco looked defeated but left to his room.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

"Is there?" Y/n asked instead of answering me.
