Peace or Nah?

I bound into my room, Josh and Timothy calling after me, but I didn't stop. I grabbed the bag I'd packed that day last year, and ran past my two friends and down the stairs, and out the front door.

I don't make it far though, because on the front lawn, stood Derrick. "Going somewhere?" He asked.

I just glared at him and spat, "Screw you, Derrick." before running past him.

"You would run!" He called, trying to stop me, but I wasn't stupid. He liked watching me suffer, and wanted Timothy and Josh to convince me to stay, but I wouldn't. Not this time.

I ran and ran, meter and meters, until I got tired. When that time came, I began walking, and came to the edge of that same town I'd come across last time.

I went around the edge and came to the back of the boutique I'd ran in last time, opening the door and slipping inside. I came to a maintenance closet, and cracked the door open, to find it led to an office.

When I stepped into the office, I found the same lady as before. "Pst!" I hissed, trying to get her attention. He didn't move. "Pssst!"

She looked up and our eyes met. "Oh, sweetheart! You look awful!" She said, gesturing for me to come into her office, but I glanced around to see if there were any cameras. She laughed a little, "Don't worry, honey, no cameras here." she said, and I came in.

"You said I could get help from you once. Dies your offer still stand?" I asked, getting straight to business.

"Did my son do something to you?" She asked almost horrified.

"Yes and no. He knew how I felt about him, and still showed off his trophy girlfriend who he just got engaged to. I decided it was time I left and now I need help getting as far from here as possible." I explained.

"He knew how you felt about him?" She asked. I nodded. "How do you feel about him?"

"I thought I might have been in love with him, but it must have just been one-sided because he didn't care if it tore me to pieces to see them together." I told her, feeling tears well. Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath, I looked bak at her with determination burning in my heart. "Help me escape his torment. Please." I begged.

She nodded and pointed at the door is entered from. "Meet me on the back. I have an old friend you can stay with, get a job in his town, and build a life with his help at getting you started." she said, and grabbed some keys before disappearing around front.

I was surprised his mother was willing to help some girl who got her heart broken by her son, who hair got engaged. I would have thought she'd be jumping with joy, hoping to get to her son and meet his new fiancé as soon as possible. But instead she was helping me leave.

Maybe she wanted me away from her son, where I could screw things up for him and his new fiancé.

I made my way to the back, and found Mrs. Wells waiting for me in her suburban. I climbed in the passenger seat and we were off.

I watched as Elizabeth ran into the house with tears in her eyes, and felt a pang of guilt. Josh and Timothy ran after her, not wasting a second.

I kissed Charlotte's temple and walked to the front as the guys congratulated her, but we both knew what this was.

I hoped Tim would be as upset as I was that night, but he must have been a better friend than me. I wanted her to feel how I felt. She couldn't go to me for anything and that hurt me, after carrying for her as deeply as I do, it sucked.

So I decided payback was in order. I called a friend and she agreed to being my fake girlfriend and now fake fiancé that may have been too convincing.

I know what your thinking, you son of a bitch! Do you realize how much she's been hurting? Do you know how many times she cried herself to sleep knowing she couldn't have the guy she wanted?

And my answer to all this is yes. I sat outside her door and listened as she spilled everything out to Josh and Tim, as she cried, and screamed trying to escape her nightmares. But she didn't trust me.

Me! The guy who took care of her! And she trusted the guy who kidnapped her mor than me.

All I wanted was for it to last no more than a month. But she just kept trying to get away from me, so I kept it going, always trying to find out here she was so she could see me and Charlotte together.

But I may have just screwed things up farther than repair this time...
