Tōru's POV:
I'm reading in the waiting room. I don't understand the text written in ink that glows in the dark because it's published in a language I don't understand. I don't understand the Lagomian language.
It's been such a long time since the meeting started. What are they doing in there?
Ugh, I'm so hungry.
Most of the Lagomian literature is full of pictures and, this book isn't an exception. Such pretty pictures. Full of red blood and animals. Some of them are dead, some of them are alive and others are on the verge of dying. Is this a detective story? Horror? Fairytale? I don't know. It could be anything.
The last Lagomian fairytale I've read was about a poor girl with mean stepsiblings and an evil stepfather. Her father died years ago and, now, she has only her mother. Not like her mother is kind to her. They all bully her, poor girl.
One night she goes to a royal ball. On the way there, she helps a bunch of ants. They give her a stunning dress as a thank you. The prince is looking for a partner and, she sees this as an opportunity. She could get married to a much richer and nicer family.
The first night, she dances with the prince. She likes him, but he doesn't seem interested. The second night she asks him if he wants to marry her and, he says no. Not because he doesn't like her, but because he already found someone. She gets mad and goes home. On the third and final night, she decides to kill him. And she's successful. One of the guards sees her and tries to catch her. She escapes, but her shoe gets stuck in the mud.
After that, they search everywhere to find the owner of the shoe. News about the prince's death is secret. They said that the one who will fit in this shoe, will become the prince's spouse. Her mother and stepfather conceal her existence.
Her stepbrother tries the shoe on, but it's too small. His father takes the potato peeler and peels off part of his heel. The guard says that they are looking for a woman, therefore, he can't come with them. The stepsister tries the shoe on too, but it doesn't fit her. Her father takes a knife and cuts off her toes. That works and, the shoe fits like a glove on a hand.
The poor girl saw all that. She knew, but she stayed quiet. Her father always taught her to treat others the way she wanted to be treated. Her stepsister got executed. After that, she came to her's father's grave and told him all that. She fell asleep and, when she woke up, birds were pecking her eyes.
Wasn't that supposed to be A CHILDREN'S STORY? It's from a fairytale collection of bedtime stories for kids from 1 year to ten years old.
I'm pretty sure it was named Um firus dule mu nid ko teds.
Um firus means before bed. Dule is time. Mu is short. Nid means story, tale, legend and, ko teds means for descendants.
The thing is, when mu and nid are read out loud, it gives munid... Which means murder.
I don't know the Lagomain language, but Koshi does. He told me that. He might be lying, but I trust him. And I've read that book. I wouldn't be surprised if the space between mu and nid is a typo.
The official translation of that title is Bedtime fairytales for little kids. I wonder how many kids did this book traumatise.
I'm thinking about other stories from that book, and then the door open.
Tetsuro and Kōtaro walk into the room. "Let's go," Tetsuro says coldly and takes Kenma's hand. "Yeah, the meeting's over." Says Kōtarō to Keiji. They walk out, and Hajime walks in. I put the book on the table and walk to him. "Ok, let's go." He says softly. He's in a good mood. His steps aren't as heavy as they usually are. That's good. We walk out and, I see Wakatoshi. Ew.
