THE STAG STOOD TALL AND PROUD ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LAKE, it's light radiating throughout the dark forest causing all the chaos from before to pause.
It felt as if time had stopped as Laken looked up at the stag, her heartbeat speeding up as more memories flashed through her head.
"JAMES IS BAMBI?!"
Sirius laughed louder and James rolled his eyes.
"I'm not Bambi! Bambi was weak and unimportant." James explained causing Laken to tilt her head to the side in confusion.
"Yea, like you. That makes you Bambi." She said causing Lily to slap her hand over her mouth to hide her laughter.
"That's it!" James exclaimed before running forward and picking the little girl up, throwing her in the air before catching her and spinning her around before ticking her sides, causing her to laugh loudly.
"I'm a stag! Big and powerful, not weak like Bambi!" James told her as he continued to attack her sides. "Say I'm a stag and I'll stop."
"You're a stag you're a stag!" Laken laughed loudly. James stopped his tickle attack and let her catch her breath.
"That's right." James smiled before sitting her on his hip. "And after I die, whenever you see a stag I wan't you to think of me and know that I'm with you. Probably protecting you from something because Stags are cool like that."
"You're not gonna die J." Laken pouted and reached up to flick him on the nose.
"I know, I'm invincible." James said with a smirk causing Sirius to scoff and Lily to roll her eyes.
It didn't take long for Laken to realize that James had been telling the truth. He was watching out for her and all the proof she needed was standing right across the lake.
Her eyes met his glowing ones and after sending her a nod which she hardly processed, a bright light was cast across the lake and the dementors started to disappear.
With her eyes starting to droop Laken barely processed when Sirius gasped awake by her side.
"Dad?" She mumbled, swaying a bit before her body leaned forward and she collapsed onto his chest.
As her eyes closed she watched as the stag slowly disappeared before darkness consumed her, the last thought on her mind being James Potter leaving her once again.
