9. Ryker

"He hates me." I whispered as I hung up, not wanting to listen anymore, holding my chest as I felt a sharp pain in my heart, my eyes stung and my breathing fast and hard, hurting my chest even more.

I have no idea where this hatred for me came from. I hadn't even properly met my mate and yet, he absolutely hates my guts. I didn't do anything to him, only saw him twice and he already has such strong opinions about me. 

"It hurts Ry Ry." Leo whimpered and I fell on my knees and curled up into a ball, trying to comfort both me and my tiger.

"I know buddy. I'm so sorry he hates me." I whimpered and he growled at me, making me shake even more at the power behind his growl. 

"Do not apologize for something you did not do. He has formed his opinion without getting to know who we are. Who we truly are. This is not your fault." 

"I love you Leo."

"I love you Ry Ry." We laid in silence, tears streaming down my face as I sobbed quietly into my arms, trying to get this pain to stop. 

"Ryker!" I heard a worried voice and feet rushing towards me and I didn't even have the strength to look up to see who it was. That was until they put their hands on my face and had me look up and I saw Mikael looking worried at me. Amilia and Garrett on each side of him, looking just as worried. 

"What happened?" Amilia asked as she got on her knees and pulled my head into her lap and ran her fingers through my hair gently. It felt nice and comforting, just like when mama did this to me.

"My m...mate ha...hates me." I sobbed and held onto her waist and buried my head into her stomach and she held me as I cried. Probably stunned as I never had shown emotion in front of anyone in this pack. 

"Why do you think that?" Mikael asked and after I calmed down some I told them everything, from what I found out about myself, to Maya, to the phone call and why I'm here and what Amar admitted to me.

"Man, I'm sorry Ryker. That, that's just wrong. Want me to teach him a lesson?" Garrett asked, shaking his fist in the air, making me smile slightly. 

"There you are." He said and helped me up and wrapped his big arms around me and hugged me.

"You can stay with me as long as you like Ryker. Papa will understand." Amilia said and I couldn't do that, not after the way Kody treated daddy.

"I appreciate it, but I will have to decline. I don't want to cause daddy any added stress when he finds out. The history between them isn't good, you know that so I'd rather not add to it." 

"You know papa forgave him right?" She said and I stopped in my tracks and she faced me.

"He did, a long time ago." She said and I shook my head. 

"If he did, why didn't he tell daddy? He hasn't come to visit and daddy hasn't been back here since he left so how is he to know that?" I asked and she shrugged her shoulder. 

"I don't know but I think it’s time we had them all sit down and talk things out. Maybe then you would have better relationships with your family, be more comfortable here." 

"As long as Gary and Joseph are here, I'll never be comfortable here." I said honestly and she nodded in understanding. 

We walked to the packhouse and everyone who was here was talking and laughing, playing games, running around, enjoying the day since it was beautiful out. 

"Ryker?" I heard a voice I didn't realize I missed so much and turned around and saw grandpa (Caleb) standing there, shocked to see me. 

I ran down the steps and into his open arms and hugged him, missing the feeling of his warmth and inhaled his scent.
