Silvia's father, Ken Kisaragi, was an eccentric man with a strong moral ideology that he was using as a foundation to cleanse the world with the help of Silvia. After her accident at the start of the year, on January 16th to be exact, and after her receiving the powers that arose as complications from her subsequent treatment, he had believed that it was a sign from the God that her and him had been blessed with the responsibility to fix the world.

"It is a sign! A fate that has been bestowed upon you!" he had rejoiced after she had woken up from her coma and realized that her strength, speed and flexibility exceeded those of the average human. In fact, they exceeded those of the powerful as well, which is when her father started his plans about assassinating those that he felt didn't deserve to live in this new world of his.

But it wasn't all good and dandy. The accident that her father had thought of as a God's gift to them, was more like a nightmare to her. It had made her lose her memory from her life before except for a few hazy ones that felt more like a dream than real memories. She had lost her sense of herself, who she was, and felt as if the life she was living was a lie altogether. But it was her reality.

"It is called post-traumatic amnesia," her father had explained to her as he described everything else about her life that she had forgotten; that she was a 19-year-old girl named Silvia Kisaragi, an adopted daughter of his who had graduated high school early because of her high academic skills. Her name was peculiar but beautiful in his mind. Her first name meant the goddess of forest and the last meant the second moon phase of the lunar calendar. It seemed that her father had picked the last name himself after cutting contact with his parents to signify his new start at life commemorated by his love for astrology and the moon. However, the name Kisaragi also had another darker meaning to it, as Silvia had later come to find out; "devil". Sometimes she thought if she actually were the devil herself as did many of her victims when they looked at her cold eyes begging mercy in the last seconds of their life.

Her father was a medical doctor, a scientist and an engineer, and currently worked for himself studying the possibilities of gene-technology, after being fired from his last job for "ethically dubious" practices of work. And of course, while he worked at his lab, he also planned for a world reform. Silvia was her only worker and at this point she felt more like his slave than his daughter. In fact, when she lost her memories, she lost any recognition of her father. In effect, it was replaced by a strong innate fear of her father, which he said was one more of the complications of her treatment. The fateful treatment was actually manufactured by her father, as other doctors had said that Silvia was beyond saving after her accident, which he could not believe. And thus, he applied his knowledge of gene-technology into generating her treatment and after 44 days in coma, she woke up right on her birthday, at 28th of February.

So, after that, she was solely dependent on her father and under his control. She still had to take medication every day so that she wouldn't succumb to grave migraines and muscle atrophy which could at worst kill her, at least by the words of her father. This meant that she couldn't resist him if she wished to receive medication and stay alive. So, she did not repel him and did as she was told. To compensate for her lost personality, she adopted a new one given by father: a merciless, careful, intelligent assassin. And that was who she was from that day forward.

After five months of rigorous training, information gathering and small assassin assignments, the father sent Silvia to Ikebukuro where she was to live and continue their mission.

"It all starts from Ikebukuro... First that, then Tokyo, then Japan and then the whole world! I-, uhm, we will be the new rulers of this new world and people will bow down to us!" He exclaimed and threw his hands to the air. "I have already given you all the important the information about your first cases in Tokyo, but there is one more thing that I want you to know and remember: stay away from Izaya Orihara." And with those words, he sent her away.
