"I can't believe you got engaged without telling me."

"And I can't believe you got rid of Jason without telling me."

Emily flushed at that, knowing that Chase had finally spilled the beans. "He told you?" She mumbled, rubbing at the nape of her neck.

"After being satisfied enough that I'm officially his after trapping me into marriage, yes, he did."

She let out a light laugh.

Chase never failed to impress her with his mischievous acts of winning her friend's heart.

"Did he also tell you that Jason was the one who sent those pictures of you and Kylo to him? He practically fessed up everything for the sake of getting our grandfather's support."

Valentina gave a disgusted face and decided not to comment.

"And I'm pretty sure no one can trick you into doing anything you don't want to."

She gave Emily a look.

"Oh, you'd be surprised." With fake shivers to her words, she nodded to the contract before her on the table.

Getting the point, Emily winced a bit. "That was only because you were young and naive. We've all been there before. At least with this contract, you'll have a lawyer to oversee it."

"Meh, I'm kind of tempted to be young and naive as it is your husband's company I'm joining after all."

Emily smiled at the compliment.

"Nicholas will take good care of you for sure. Because if he doesn't I'll kick his ass."

"Ooh? Is badass Emily making a return? I really do love it when you shed that innocent skin of yours. There's no way we can click so well without having some kind of underlying traits in common."

She folded her arms across her chest and pouted.

"I am innocent."

"Ooh, not so much after officially becoming Mrs. King. Don't think for a second we won't be discussing those love-bites on your neck."

Automatically, she covered up the spot with her sweater, turning as red as ever.

"I swear, you blush more than a regular person should. Is that a condition?"

"No, I've actually asked a doctor about it. He said my blood runs hotter than the usual person. Meaning that my blushing tends to happen more intensely when I'm warm rather than cool. It just so happens saying crude or embarrassing stuff does that to me."

Valentina laughed, enamored by her explanation.

She took it back.

Emily really was innocent.

Her eyes travelled back to the contract before her from Royal Entertainment. It had been months since Mr. Malik was investigated, audited and sentenced to six years in prison for his unlawful activities. His company had gone under with her not having to go through any legal process. Thanks to Chase, she and everyone else under his evil dominion were free to find somewhere else where they could start over. She'd spent a long time researching different companies, but none of them clicked with her. She had almost driven her fiancé crazy when she asked him what he thought about her self-representing herself.

It took that (and a whole lot of pent up frustration) for him to yell at the ceiling that Nicholas was right there in front of her. Why was she even considering elsewhere when he had the biggest entertainment company to date?
